Senior SolarWinds Automation Engineer Job DescriptionOur organization seeks an accomplished Senior SolarWinds Automation Engineer to manage, optimize and automate various functions of our SolarWinds platform.The successful candidate will administer and maintain the SolarWinds Orion platform, including NPM, NCM, SAM, VNQM, and other modules. This role requires a deep understanding of the SolarWinds Orion suite, with experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of the platform as well as PowerShell development.They will develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automating SolarWinds tasks such as node onboarding/offboarding, alert suppression or muting during maintenance windows, custom alert/report generation and distribution, and SolarWinds–ServiceNow integration enhancements.Additionally, they will implement custom monitoring logic, automated diagnostics, and integrations via Orion API, SWIS, and REST endpoints.Key ResponsibilitiesThe ideal candidate will have the following responsibilities:Collaborate with stakeholders to understand automation needs and deliver solutions that support observability workflows.Build tools and utilities to support monitoring self-service, reporting automation, and configuration validation.Manage custom Pollers, SNMP configurations, and agentless/agent-based monitoring across multi-vendor environments.Design and optimize SWQL and SQL queries to support reports and custom dashboards for tailored views.Configure and maintain alert logic, escalation policies, and notification integrations (e.g., with ServiceNow, email, Teams).Participate in incident triage and root cause analysis, leveraging SolarWinds logs and metrics.Maintain security posture of the application, including RBAC, SNMPv3, and audit logging.Contribute to and maintain Kanban board tasks and documentation related to SolarWinds projects and issues.Requirements and QualificationsTo be considered for this position, candidates must have:Strong knowledge of the SolarWinds Orion suite, including NPM, NCM, SAM, VNQM, and other modules.Experience with PowerShell development and scripting.Proficiency in administering and maintaining the SolarWinds Orion platform.Ability to design and optimize SWQL and SQL queries.Knowledge of custom Pollers, SNMP configurations, and agentless/agent-based monitoring.Understanding of security posture and how to maintain it, including RBAC, SNMPv3, and audit logging.BenefitsCandidates who meet the qualifications will have opportunities to work in a dynamic team environment and contribute to high-priority projects.
