Enterprise Systems Specialist RoleThis is a highly specialized position that requires an experienced systems professional to design, implement and maintain enterprise-level system software in mainframe environments.System Configuration & Optimization:Configure and maintain z/OS and subsystems (JES2, RACF, CICS, DB2, IMS) for optimal performance.Manage system updates, PTFs, APARs using SMP/E to ensure stability and compatibility.Performance Enhancement & Capacity Planning:Monitor and optimize CPU, memory, and I/O performance to meet business needs.Tune WLM, Sysplex, and critical components for maximum efficiency.Conduct capacity planning and recommend hardware upgrades to support growth.Security Governance & Compliance:Administer RACF and enforce security policies to protect sensitive data.Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as SOX, PCI-DSS, HIPAA.Apply security patches and mitigate vulnerabilities to prevent breaches.Storage Management & Backup Recovery:Manage DFSMS, VSAM, HSM, and storage tools to optimize disk and tape usage.Oversee backups, DR, and high-availability solutions to minimize downtime.Incident Resolution & Troubleshooting:Diagnose and resolve system abends and bottlenecks to ensure smooth operations.Analyze dumps, logs, and traces to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.Automation & Scripting:Develop automation scripts using REXX, JCL, CLIST, Ansible to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.Improve monitoring, job scheduling, and automation to streamline processes.Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity:Implement and test disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in the event of a disaster.Maintain Parallel Sysplex and failover configurations to minimize downtime.Knowledge Sharing & Documentation:Maintain accurate technical documentation and best practices to support knowledge sharing.Mentor junior team members and share expertise to foster growth and development.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.5+ years as a z/OS Systems Programmer or similar role.Expertise in z/OS, z/VM, JES2, SMP/E, TSO, ISPF, RACF, JCL, REXX, VTAM, TCP/IP, USS, z/Linux.Strong understanding of IBM mainframe hardware, Sysplex, and storage management.Experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting using logs and dumps.Familiarity with automation tools and middleware integration.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ, WebSphere, or z/VM.Familiarity with ACF2, Top Secret, and cloud integration (zCloud, IBM Z Ansible).Knowledge of Containers, AI, and ability to read Assembler/C code.Certifications: IBM Certified System Programmer – z/OS, ITIL Foundation.Soft Skills:Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Ability to work independently and lead initiatives.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.],
