Automation SpecialistJob DescriptionThe successful candidate will oversee the entire lifecycle of business process automation, leveraging expertise in workflow design and execution to drive efficiency and productivity.Main Responsibilities:Design, build, and implement automated workflows using Power Automate (Cloud Flows) to integrate data across multiple systems.Audit and optimize existing VBA macros, ensuring stability and compatibility with current business needs.Develop Python scripts for complex data processing tasks, exceeding the capabilities of standard tools.Create 'bridge' solutions that facilitate seamless integration between local VBA events and cloud-based services.Migrate unstable or slow VBA code to more robust Python scripts or Power Automate flows.Implement comprehensive error trapping mechanisms across all platforms.RequirementsTechnical SkillsVBA (Visual Basic for Applications)Deep expertise in the Excel Object Model: Workbooks, Sheets, Ranges, PivotTablesExperience writing efficient code using arrays to minimize read/write operationsAbility to debug legacy code written by others and create UserForms for data entryPower AutomateStrong command of Cloud Flows: Dataverse, custom connectorsExperience interfacing with SharePoint Lists and LibrariesPythonProficiency in data manipulation libraries: Pandas, openpyxl, xlwingsAbility to write scripts that interact with Excel files programmaticallyGeneralUnderstanding of when to use which tool: E.g., VBA for user interactivity vs. Python for backend processingSoft SkillsAnalytical Thinking: Ability to deconstruct complex manual processesAdaptability: Comfortable working with both legacy code and modern APIsDocumentation: Skill in writing clear 'Read Me' files and inline code commentsDeliverablesOptimized and stable VBA modulesDeployed Power Automate flows: Notifications and approvalsPython scripts for data transformation tasksA migration roadmap: Suggesting which remaining macros should be moved to the cloud
