Job Summary


The Supplier Development Manager will be responsible for developing and managing a robust supply base for critical automotive components such as plating, machining, PCB assemblies, stamping, molding parts, and copper/brass/copper alloy materials. This role requires a strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes and materials, combined with excellent supplier management and cross-functional collaboration skills.


Main Responsibilities


Supplier Development & Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers for plating, milling, PCB development, stamping, and molding operations.
  • Ensure supplier capability in handling copper, brass, and copper alloy components with required automotive standards.
  • Drive supplier performance improvement programs covering quality, cost, delivery, innovation, and sustainability.
  • Conduct supplier audits (process, quality system, capability) and follow up on corrective actions.

Technical & Process Expertise

  • Lead technical discussions with suppliers and internal teams on material specifications, manufacturing feasibility, and process improvements.
  • Support new product development (NPD) by ensuring supplier readiness and process validation.
  • Review and approve PPAP, APQP, and other supplier documentation as per automotive standards (IATF 16949).
  • Resolve technical challenges related to plating, machining , PCB development, stamping , and molding processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with design, engineering, production, and quality teams to align supplier capabilities with project requirements.
  • Act as the primary technical interface between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives through value engineering and alternate material/process development.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure suppliers comply with automotive quality systems (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001).
  • Monitor and reduce supplier non-conformance issues through structured problem-solving tools (8D, FMEA, SPC).
  • Drive continuous improvement in supplier processes to meet zero-defect goals.


Qualification and Skills


  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering (preferred).
  • 10–15 years of experience in supplier development, supplier quality, or supply chain management in the automotive industry.
  • Strong knowledge of plating, machining , PCB development, stamping, molding, and copper/brass alloy materials.
  • Hands-on experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple suppliers, negotiate effectively, and build long-term relationships.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and cost reduction techniques.
