In this role, you'll work directly under our Principal Data Platform Engineer to implement platform improvements, maintain critical infrastructure, and guide teams on best practices for working within our data ecosystem.About the RoleWe're seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer with strong expertise in cloud data platforms and infrastructure management to help us implement and maintain our data platform vision. You'll be working hands-on with our established data platform that serves hundreds of data consumers daily, focusing on the critical infrastructure that keeps our data ecosystem running smoothly and efficiently.This is a hands-on, technical role focused on implementing platform improvements, maintaining infrastructure reliability, and enabling teams to work effectively within our data platform. You'll work closely with our Principal Data Platform Engineer to execute strategic initiatives while serving as a subject matter expert for teams using Databricks and other Azure services.The successful candidate will be passionate about data platform engineering, comfortable working with cloud infrastructure at scale, and committed to helping teams succeed through technical guidance and best practices. You'll contribute to a collaborative environment where platform reliability and developer experience are paramount.What You'll DoImplement and maintain data platform infrastructure using Terraform, Azure services, and our broader technology stackWork directly with the Principal Data Platform Engineer to execute strategic platform improvements and architectural initiativesMaintain and optimize Databricks environments, including cluster configurations, job scheduling, and performance tuningProvide technical guidance and best practices to data engineering teams working within our platformMonitor platform performance and reliability, proactively identifying and resolving infrastructure issuesCollaborate with teams to troubleshoot platform-related issues and optimize their use of Azure data servicesMaintain and improve our Unity Catalog configurations, ensuring proper governance and access controlsSupport the implementation of compliance requirements (HIPAA) across our multitenant data platformContribute to platform documentation, runbooks, and best practice guidesWork with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines for data platform componentsParticipate in on-call rotations to ensure platform availability and reliabilityWhat We're Looking For years of data platform or infrastructure engineering experience with hands-on expertise in cloud platformsStrong proficiency in Azure services (Databricks, SQL Server, EventHub, Storage, etc.) and cloud infrastructure managementExperience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and version control (Git) for platform managementHands-on experience with Databricks administration, including cluster management, job optimization, and Unity CatalogKnowledge of data platform architectures and experience maintaining large-scale data infrastructureStrong understanding of Python and SQL for platform automation and troubleshootingExperience with monitoring and alerting systems for data platform reliabilityFamiliarity with compliance requirements and security best practices in cloud environmentsExcellent communication skills and ability to guide teams on technical best practicesWhy You'll Love Working HereWork hands-on with cutting-edge data platform technology that powers critical business decisionsCollaborate directly with a team who values technical excellence and mentorshipBe the go-to expert that teams rely on for platform guidance and best practicesContribute to meaningful work that impacts healthcare outcomes for millions of membersJoin a culture that values continuous learning, technical growth, and collaborative problem-solving
