Responsibilities:


1. Legal Compliance

  • Ensure the organization’s compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Review, interpret, and advise on laws, rulings, and regulations affecting the organization’s operations.
  • Conduct audits and implement corrective measures to mitigate compliance risks.

2. Contract Management

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements to protect the organization’s interests.
  • Standardize contract templates and ensure consistency across all legal documentation.
  • Oversee the management of the contract lifecycle, from creation to execution and renewal.

3. Risk Management

  • Identify potential legal risks and provide strategies to mitigate them.
  • Advise senior management on legal matters, ensuring risk exposure is minimized.
  • Implement risk management frameworks and oversee their adherence across all business units.

4. Litigation and Dispute Resolution

  • Manage all litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution matters involving the company.
  • Oversee external legal counsel where necessary and ensure that litigation strategies align with company goals.
  • Maintain records of legal proceedings and settlements.

5. Corporate Governance

  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance frameworks.
  • Advise the board of directors on governance-related legal matters, ensuring the organization adheres to best practices.
  • Oversee the preparation of legal documents for board meetings, shareholder meetings, and other governance-related activities.

6. Team Leadership and Development

  • Build, mentor, and lead a competent legal team, ensuring high performance.
  • Conduct training programs for staff on legal and compliance matters.
  • Manage the legal department’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.

7. Policy Development and Implementation

  • Draft, review, and update company policies to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations and ensure policies are updated accordingly.
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure policy implementation.

8. Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the main point of contact for all legal matters with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong relationships with regulators, external counsel, and other legal entities.
  • Provide legal support in mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.

9. Intellectual Property Management

  • Oversee the protection of intellectual property, including trademarks, patents, copyrights, etc.
  • Manage IP filings and disputes.
  • Ensure the company’s IP strategy aligns with business objectives.

10. Strategic Planning and Advisory

  • Collaborate with senior management on strategic initiatives from a legal perspective.
  • Advise on market expansion, mergers and acquisitions, and other growth strategies.
  • Align legal strategies with overall business goals.
