Highly Experienced Data Science Leader

Senior Applied ScientistWe are seeking a highly experienced Senior Applied Scientist to lead our data science and machine learning initiatives.The ideal candidate will have 7-10+ years of experience developing and deploying DS/ML systems in production, with expertise in Python, SQL, and major cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS.Data Engineering: Ingest and model data from various sources including Shopify, GA4, ESP, CRM, and ad platforms; design event taxonomy, identity graph, and data contracts.Feature Development: Build offline and online features for prediction, propensity, and clustering; ensure parity with feature stores and model registries.Machine Learning Pipeline & Training: Establish reproducible training pipelines using Python, SQL, and dbt with experiment tracking, hyperparameter search, and evaluation.MLOps & Deployment: Package models using Docker and deploy to managed services such as Vertex, SageMaker, or Cloud Run; integrate CI/CD workflows and blue-green deployment patterns.Orchestration: Schedule jobs using Airflow or Prefect; manage dependencies, SLAs, retries, and backfills.Observability: Implement data quality checks, model performance monitoring, alerting, and cost optimization strategies.Activation & APIs: Develop fast and robust services using FastAPI or Cloud Functions to push signals into external APIs or via reverse ETL.Experimentation & Measurement: Partner with product teams to design uplift tests, holdouts, and calibration to prove incremental value.Documentation & Enablement: Create clear runbooks, ERDs, and playbooks; train others to self-serve.We offer competitive equity, founding-team impact, and the opportunity to build the ML backbone of a category-defining product.
