Advanced Search Engineer

Search Solutions ArchitectWe are seeking an experienced Search Solutions Architect to join our team. As a key member of our data engine, you will be responsible for designing and implementing advanced search features using OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.This is a unique opportunity to architect the backbone of our data engine from the ground up. You will work closely with our data engineers and product teams to deliver high-quality search experiences that meet the complex business requirements of our clients.Key Responsibilities:Design and implement custom analysers, tokenisers, and scoring algorithms using OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.Create and maintain index templates, mappings, and lifecycle policies to ensure data integrity, performance, and scalability.Build and optimise custom query builders and search pipelines tailored to complex business requirements.Leverage AI/ML/LLM-powered search experiences to improve data enrichment and search relevance.Develop and maintain robust, scalable APIs for search using Python (FastAPI).Lead integration, regression, and performance testing efforts to ensure reliability and accuracy of search features.Automate deployment and management of search infrastructure, including index templates and search pipelines.Required Skills and Qualifications:5+ years experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch in production environments.Expert level expertise in Python, with experience building APIs (preferably FastAPI).Deep understanding of search concepts: analysers, tokenisers, relevance tuning, custom scoring, and query DSL.Experience with index template management, lifecycle policies, and large-scale data modelling.Proficiency in designing and optimising search pipelines and custom query builders.Strong testing background: integration, regression, and performance testing.DevOps skills: automation, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Experience with S3, AWS Lambda, and cloud-native architectures.Why You'll Love It:Green-field impact - architect the backbone of our data engine from the ground up.Remote-first flexibility - work anywhere in India and set core hours that suit your life.Small senior team - less bureaucracy, quicker decisions, visible results.A collaborative, innovative, and supportive team culture.Join Us:We're looking for talented individuals who share our passion for delivering high-quality search experiences.
