Backend Software Engineer JobWe are seeking an experienced Backend Software Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development and be proficient in Python with FastAPI and/or Flask.The successful candidate will design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Python. They will also architect and implement high-performance, async FastAPI endpoints for healthcare billing analysis.Key Responsibilities:Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Python (FastAPI and Flask)Architect and implement high-performance, async FastAPI endpoints for healthcare billing analysisManage and optimize SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL or similar), including schema design, complex queries, indexing, transactions, and query optimizationBuild data processing pipelines for healthcare EDI files (835, 837) and other structured dataDevelop cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including: Cloud Run for containerized deployments, Cloud SQL for managed databases, Cloud Storage for object storage, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub and related services for pipelines and messagingImplement authentication and authorization (JWT, OAuth2) and security best practices across servicesContribute to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation (Docker, Terraform or similar)Set up and improve logging, monitoring and error tracking, and troubleshoot production issuesRequired Skills and Qualifications2–4 years of professional software development experience (3+ years of backend-focused experience strongly preferred)Strong proficiency in Python with FastAPI and/or FlaskProven track record of building and deploying production-grade backend systemsSolid SQL expertise and experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQLUnderstanding of database indexing, transactions and performance optimizationFamiliarity with GCP networking and IAM conceptsExperience with ORMs (for example SQLAlchemy)Understanding of API authentication and authorization patterns (JWT, OAuth2)Knowledge of containerization and deployment best practices with DockerFamiliarity with DevOps practices including CI/CD, deployment and monitoringBenefitsWe offer a fast-paced startup environment where your work has immediate, visible impact.
