Senior Associate, Fund Accounting

Job DescriptionPrimary functions and essential responsibilitiesMember of team focused on Fund Accounting, supporting Ares' Employee Co-Invest funds.Ensure process and procedures are adequate to meet quality standards and are consistently applied and regularly reviewed.Work with and liaise with internal resources (primarily colleagues in the U.S.), external fund administrators, and external auditors to meet all monthly, quarterly and annual reporting deadlines.Perform monthly and quarterly close processes, including review work of external administrators, along with producing original workpapers and analyses.Review and/or reperform annual GAAP financial statements and footnote disclosures for multiple funds as well as capital account summaries for limited partners.Produce cash flow projections and analyze daily cash management, including activity on credit lines, expected settlement timing of purchases and sales, and timing of capital calls and capital distributions.Monitor compliance with the Fund's Limited Partnership Agreements and credit facilities, including the preparation or review of compliance reporting.Prepare and assist with ad-hoc limited partner reporting, analyst and front-office requests, working in conjunction with colleagues in Los Angeles and New York to ensure timely response to our investorsEntry, management, and oversight of operations and accounting in eFront and other accounting systemsReview and approval of expense activityActively work on continuous improvement as we continue to build out the Ares India office.qualificationsApproximately 5-7 years of relevant work experienceBachelors' degree in related field (Finance or Accounting) from accredited institutionChartered Accountant or CPA license, preferredStrong understanding of U.S. GAAPStrong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word (e.g.: complex formulas, macros)Experience with Power BI, Tableau or other business intelligence tools, a plusGeneral Requirements:Big-4 public accounting experience strongly, preferredAbility to work in a fast-paced, high growth environmentStrong communication skills will be important; ability to analyze and summarize complex information both verbally and in writing with colleagues in the United StatesAbility to assist in managing several third-party relationships (outside administrators; custodians)Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to multi-task and manage various deadlinesExcellent organizational and interpersonal skills; attention to detail and timelines requiredKnowledge of private equity structures, fixed income securities, debt instruments, alternative investments, securitization, or other investment products preferredProven experience of collaborating with teams in remote locations to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and high level of supervisory oversightExcellent time management skills and ability to collaborate with othersAbility to successfully manage multiple priorities and competing demands; result orientedA solutions-oriented self-starter with the ability to see the big pictureAn analytical mind and a passion/interest in bringing new ideas to increase efficiency of existing processesA demonstrated ability to research and leverage available resources to accomplish the task at handGood judgment in terms of escalating issues vs. solving problems independentlyComfort in dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty in a dynamic and fast-paced environmentEnergetic, self-motivated, and team-oriented approach; a zest for challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic environment – often under pressure to meet demanding deadlinesStrong work ethic, an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to learnDependable, great attitude, highly motivated and a team playerHighest degree of integrity, motivation and intellectual curiosityReporting RelationshipsAssistant Controller, Co-InvestThere is no set deadline to apply for this job opportunity.
