Job Summary:
The Staff Nurse in ICU/NICU is responsible for delivering high-quality, compassionate care to critically ill patients or neonates. This role demands clinical expertise, emotional resilience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Key Responsibilities:
ICU:
- Monitor and manage patients with life-threatening conditions.
- Administer medications, IV infusions, and ventilator support.
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams for treatment planning.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and perform CPR or other life-saving procedures.
NICU:
- Provide specialized care to premature or critically ill newborns.
- Operate neonatal equipment (incubators, ventilators, monitors).
- Support feeding (breastfeeding, tube feeding) and hygiene needs.
- Educate and counsel parents on neonatal care and progress.
- Monitor vital signs and developmental milestones.
Qualifications:
- B.Sc. in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Valid Nursing Council Registration (e.g., INC or State Council).
- ICU/NICU training or certification preferred.
- 3 years of experience in the ICU or NICU is required
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making.
- Proficiency in emergency response and critical care protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to handle emotional situations.
- Familiarity with hospital software and electronic health records (EHR).
