Role DescriptionThis is a contract role with an option for partial remote work. The Senior Database Administrator will oversee database administration, design, and optimization, ensuring system performance and reliability. Day-to-day tasks include troubleshooting database issues, implementing and maintaining database replication, and proactively monitoring database health and performance. Qualifications- Manages and supports enterprise-scale, cloud-first data platforms with a focus on Snowflake, Databricks, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cosmos DB, and Azure SQL, ensuring performance, scalability, and business continuity across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.- Designs and optimizes warehouse, and distributed database architectures using Snowflake for analytics and PostgreSQL/MongoDB/Cosmos DB for transactional and semi-structured workloads.- Leads modernization and migration initiatives from legacy on-prem databases to cloud-native data services (Snowflake, Databricks, PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL MI), with an emphasis on automation, performance, and cost governance.- Proficient in SQL, PowerShell, Terraform and scripting for database management, orchestration, monitoring automation, and system performance tuning.- Implements and enforces security, compliance, and governance controls across data ecosystems including encryption, auditing, data masking, and Entra ID (Azure AD) integration.- Leverages performance monitoring and tuning tools such as Snowflake Query Profile, Databricks SQL Analytics, PostgreSQL og stat statements, Azure Monitor, MongoDB Atlas Metrics, and Cosmos DB Insights for proactive optimization.- Collaborates with Data Engineering, Application, and Infrastructure teams to design and deliver resilient, scalable, and compliant data platforms supporting analytics, Al, and operational workloads.- Develops and maintains disaster recovery (DR), replication, and backup strategies across heterogeneous environments including Snowflake replication, PostgreSQL streaming replication and MongoDB/Cosmos DB backups.- Supports data integration and transformation pipelines leveraging Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and Snowflake Streams/Tasks for ELT/ETL workloads
