Chief Technologist

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead the architecture and technical direction of our generative production platform. The Technical Director will design and own the overall architecture, ensuring seamless integration of AI models, media pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building production-grade systems, including experience with high-scale backend systems, cloud platforms, containers, queues, and microservices.ResponsibilitiesPlatform Architecture: Design and own the architecture of our generative production platform, including APIs, workflow engine, model gateway, render orchestration, and asset/metadata systems.Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of pipeline engineers, tools engineers, and ML engineers, defining coding standards and best practices.Pipeline Development: Translate requirements from producers, directors, and GenAI artists into robust, repeatable pipelines.AI Integration: Integrate external AI services into a single coherent system.Observability and Reliability: Define and implement observability and reliability: logging, metrics, tracing, error budgets, incident response.Technical Roadmap: Partner with the founder on the technical roadmap for the Studio OS and its evolution into a SaaS product.Requirements8–12+ years: Building production-grade systems, including 3+ years leading small, senior teams.Strong Background: Python or TypeScript, cloud platforms (GCP/AWS), containers, queues, and microservices.Media/VFX/Animation: Experience with media/VFX/animation or real-time engines is preferred.Creative Stakeholders: Demonstrated ability to work with both technical and creative stakeholders.System Delivery: Track record of delivering systems from initial version to stable, scalable production.Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate comes from industries such as VFX, animation, post-production, gaming, real-time 3D, or high-scale SaaS/cloud platforms that manage intensive media, GPU, or distributed workloads.A strong candidate brings a blend of systems design expertise, scalable platform thinking, and an understanding of creative production workflows, enabling them to bridge engineering, creators, and product teams effectively.
