The founding data scientist will lead the development of the product's intelligence layer, addressing real-world challenges that demand accuracy, speed, and reliability. This role involves designing systems that comprehend and categorize content across various platforms (email, Slack, issue trackers, documents) into actionable items, status checks, meeting requests, information, or noise. The engineer will also identify the domain of each task based on message content and context, infer actual work requirements from vague task requests, and convert them into structured, executable units. Additionally, the engineer will trigger internal or external agents to assist with task completion where necessary, group related messages across channels into implicit 'Projects,' and fetch the latest status for messages inquiring about progress. The engineer will detect meeting-related inquiries, identify participants, find availability, and propose times, developing the core intelligence of the product. This challenging opportunity requires an experienced data scientist who has successfully deployed ML/LLM systems in production, can manage data modeling, evaluation, infrastructure deployment, and thinks in terms of reliability, precision, recall, and trust. The ideal candidate prefers working in small teams, values fast iterations, wants to build a product relied upon daily by global teams, and has experience with high-bar product reliability, user-in-the-loop workflows, and execution-critical latency constraints.
