About the Job:


Borneo is a fast-growing startup developing a cutting-edge data security and compliance automation platform, and we’re seeking a Sr. Engineering Manager who can lead, mentor, and inspire a talented engineering team. This role offers an opportunity to shape product direction, foster technical excellence, and scale our engineering processes as we tackle startup challenges. This role involves working closely with product, design, and executive teams to deliver on ambitious product roadmaps and set high technical standards for our engineering organization.


Responsibilities:


  • Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from inception to release and post-launch support.
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering and design teams to define product requirements and user stories.
  • Define and implement efficient engineering methodologies, best practices, and workflows.
  • Oversee architecture decisions, code reviews, and best practices, ensuring efficient development and deployment processes.
  • Work closely with quality assurance teams to ensure comprehensive testing of product releases, identifying and addressing any issues or defects.
  • Establish and optimize DevOps workflows, TDD, and CI/CD for fast, reliable releases.
  • Advocate for development tools, such as GitHub CoPilot, and explore applications of LLMs for enhanced development efficiency.
  • Create and maintain release documentation, including release notes, deployment procedures, and version control.
  • Collaborate with customer support and customer success teams to ensure a smooth customer experience during and after releases.
  • Build a diverse engineering team, which may include distributed team members and consultants, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.


Required Qualifications:


  • 12+ years in software engineering, with 4+ years in a managerial role leading engineering teams.
  • Strong background in software development, with expertise in one of the programming language: Typescript, Go, or Python
  • Skilled in full-stack development, test-driven development (TDD), and managing cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
  • Proven experience managing and scaling engineering teams in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex ideas effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in designing and managing multi-tenant, distributed SaaS applications with multi-cloud capabilities.
  • Experience using GitHub CoPilot and LLMs to enhance coding efficiency and support automation.
