Role Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Global Head of Tax to lead and oversee our worldwide tax function. This strategic leadership role demands expertise in direct and indirect taxation (including GST, VAT, and other sales taxes), transfer pricing, compliance, audits, litigation, and M&A tax advisory. The successful candidate will drive tax strategy, manage risk, influence tax policy, and lead tax transformation initiatives leveraging technology across multiple jurisdictions including Americas, APAC, UK, Europe, and India. Key Responsibilities A. Global Tax Strategy & Compliance Lead and govern global tax compliance and risk management for direct and indirect taxes across diverse jurisdictions. Optimize corporate tax structures to minimize global tax liabilities through effective cross-border planning and robust indirect tax frameworks. Ensure compliance with evolving indirect tax laws including GST, VAT, and other transactional taxes worldwide. B. Transfer Pricing & Cross-Border Taxation Develop and implement transfer pricing policies compliant with OECD guidelines across USA, UK, Canada, EU, APAC, and India. Manage transfer pricing audits and disputes to mitigate risks and achieve favorable outcomes. Design intercompany pricing models ensuring arm’s length principles and regulatory compliance. C. Indirect Taxation Management Oversee the end-to-end management of indirect tax obligations, including GST, VAT, customs duties, and other transactional taxes. Drive indirect tax compliance, planning, and audit defense strategies. Lead indirect tax technology enablement and process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Collaborate with regional tax teams to navigate complex indirect tax regimes and optimize tax credits and refunds. D. Tax Audits, Litigation & Risk Management Lead and manage tax audits and investigations for both direct and indirect taxes, maintaining a clean compliance record. Represent the company in tax litigation and dispute resolution processes, minimizing financial and reputational risks. Engage with tax authorities to recover refunds and settle disputes effectively. E. Business Restructuring & M&A Taxation Provide tax-efficient advice on business restructuring, mergers, acquisitions, demergers, and slump sales, considering both direct and indirect tax impacts. Advise on entity structuring (branch vs. subsidiary) to minimize withholding tax exposure and optimize foreign tax credits. Conduct tax due diligence for cross-border M&A transactions, optimizing amortization, depreciation, and indirect tax benefits. F. Regulatory Affairs & Industry Leadership Collaborate with Big 4 advisors and senior legal counsel for complex tax issues and dispute resolution. Proactively engage with tax authorities and government bodies, contributing to the evolution of tax policies and indirect tax frameworks. Represent the company in industry forums to influence tax regulation developments. G. Leadership & Strategic Tax Management Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing global tax team fostering accountability, innovation, and agility. Develop and implement tax strategies aligned with business objectives, balancing risk and opportunity. Partner with senior leadership and the Board to integrate tax planning into overall corporate strategy and growth initiatives. Qualifications & Experience Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, or equivalent professional tax qualification. 12+ years of progressive tax leadership experience, including direct and indirect tax expertise. Proven track record in managing global tax functions across multiple jurisdictions. Strong knowledge of international tax laws, transfer pricing, GST/VAT, customs, and regulatory requirements. Experience leading tax aspects of M&A, restructuring, audits, and litigation. Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to drive tax technology transformation and process automation. NIIT is an equal opportunity employer.
