At LTX- LaunchTrax we build Next Gen Mission Systems for defense and aerospace customers. We work on customer applications in the field of mission planning, terrain visualisation and decision support systems and use a variety of technologies in 3D Geospatial, Image Processing, Extended Reality and various MIL standards to deliver cutting edge solutions to our customers.

Every single mission from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota and India's Missile Test Range, Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur in India uses software developed by Engineers at LaunchTrax for better mission readiness.

The VR Developer for this role will be part of the AxIS department. We harness XR technology to deliver comprehensive solutions tailored for aerospace and industrial applications.


Work Experience: 3 years or more

Location: On-site at Bangalore.

Required to travel to project sites across the country.


Qualifications required:


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Game Development, Software Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in VR development or a related field.
  • Proficiency in VR development tools and engines like Unity3D and Unreal Engine.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as C++, C# or Python.
  • Experience with VR SDKs and APIs (e.g., Oculus SDK, OpenXR, SteamVR).
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling and animation pipelines.
  • Familiarity with VR hardware platforms (e.g., Oculus Quest, HTC Vive, PSVR).


Preferred :

  • Experience working with CAD/Catia models.
  • Advanced understanding of graphics programming (e.g., shaders, OpenGL, DirectX, Vulkan).
  • Experience with spatial audio design and implementation.
  • Knowledge of physics engines and simulation in VR.
  • Strong grasp of optimization techniques for VR applications.
  • Familiarity with AR/VR trends, including mixed reality (MR) and extended reality (XR).
  • Portfolio of completed VR projects showcasing immersive and interactive experiences.

 

Roles and Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with 3D Modeling and Environmental Design.
  • Collaborate with CAD/Catia designers, 3D/2D artists to create realistic and immersive virtual environments.
  • Optimize 3D assets for performance and usability in VR.
  • Implement lighting, shading and texturing techniques for immersive graphics.
  • Design and develop VR applications for various platforms, such as Oculus, HTC Vive, PlayStation VR and mobile VR devices.
  • Create Immersive VR experiences tailored to specific user or project needs.
  • Integrate VR applications with hardware peripherals like controllers, motion trackers or haptic devices.

 

Programming and Scripting :

  • Write clean, maintainable code using programming languages like C++, C# or Python.
  • Develop scripts for VR interactions, physics, animations and user interfaces.
  • Optimize VR software for performance and low-latency interactions.

 

VR Interaction Design :

  • Design and implement intuitive user interfaces for VR environments.
  • Integrate gesture controls, hand tracking and voice recognition for immersive interaction.
  • Test and iterate on interaction models to enhance the user experience.

 

VR Frameworks and SDKs :

  • Work with VR development tools and frameworks such as Unity3D, Unreal Engine, OpenXR or SteamVR.
  • Stay updated on new SDKs, APIs and best practices for VR development.

 

Testing and Quality Assurance :

  • Perform rigorous testing to identify and fix bugs, performance issues and usability challenges.
  • Ensure VR applications provide a smooth and immersive experience across devices.
  • Conduct user testing to gather feedback and iterate on design.

 

Collaboration and Project Management :

  • Work with cross-functional teams, including designers, artists and other developers.
  • Participate in Agile or Scrum development cycles, contributing to sprint planning and reviews.
  • Provide mentorship to junior developers and share expertise with the team.

 

Research and Innovation :

  • Explore emerging technologies and techniques in VR.
  • Experiment with new interaction paradigms, rendering methods and hardware integrations.
  • Evaluate trends and propose innovative solutions to improve VR experiences.

 

Optimization and Scalability :

  • Optimize code and assets for performance, ensuring a high frame rate and low latency.
  • Develop scalable solutions that can be adapted to different hardware or platforms.

 

Documentation :

  • Create and maintain technical documentation for projects.
  • Document APIs, workflows and processes for future reference and team collaboration.
