About the Job and Role We are seeking a Lead Product Designer with a passion for gaming. As a Lead Product Designer at our gaming company, you will play a crucial role in shaping the user experience and visual design of our gaming products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, game developers, and user researchers, to create innovative and engaging experiences for our players. This role requires a deep understanding of both the gaming industry and user-centered design principles. Responsibilities: User Experience (UX) Design: Ability to conduct and understand user research to understand player needs, behaviors, and preferences. Create user journeys, mockups, prototypes, storyboards, and presentations to effectively communicate design ideas. Design intuitive and user-friendly interfaces for games, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable player journey. Pitch and present concepts, proposals, and updates to stakeholders and translate complex concepts and interactions into simple, elegant, and coherent design. Visual Design and System: Develop visually stunning and cohesive design elements while working closely with other designers and brand teams. Maintain consistency in design across different platforms and devices. Proficiency in building Design Systems and Prototyping frameworks. Prototyping and Iteration: Create interactive prototypes to test and iterate on design concepts. Gather feedback from play-testing and user testing sessions to refine and improve designs. Work closely with developers to ensure the implementation aligns with the intended design. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and brand teams. Communicate design ideas and concepts effectively, fostering a collaborative and creative environment. Participate in design critiques and contribute to the overall design vision of the gaming products. Research and Stay Updated: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies in the gaming space. Apply insights from gaming and design research to enhance the overall user experience. Accessibility and Inclusivity: Ensure that designs are accessible and inclusive to a diverse player base. Advocate for inclusive design practices and consider diverse needs in the design process. Team Leadership & Mentorship Coach and mentor designers, raising the craft and critical thinking of the team. Provide actionable feedback through design critiques and 1:1s. Identify skill gaps and facilitate growth through hiring, training, or process changes. Desired Skills & Qualifications At Baazi, we prioritise product principles and gamers first approach. 6-10 years of professional experience on a product design team. Proven experience in all phases of the design process including user research, wireframing, prototyping, visual design, interaction design, and usability testing Ability to lead a team/POD towards end user goals. Knowledge of relevant tools like Figma, Photoshop, After Effects. An intuitive eye for customer needs beyond the obvious. Excellent attention to detail wrt to design deliveries as well as ensuring experience reaching the users what was designed for them. A strong track record of collaboration with cross-functional teams. Ability to conduct, interpret, and present qualitative and quantitative feedback and research. Exceptional communication skills for conveying design concepts and roadmaps. Strong problem-solving skills. Critically analyse the success of your solutions and iterate. Understanding of business objectives and execution of said objectives. A well-rounded portfolio showcasing strong problem solving and visual aesthetics with end outcomes. Staying updated with trends around and helping teams having knowledge of the same. Any previous experience with building gaming project or product would be a great + Portfolio We are looking for your most recent and impressive projects to evaluate your skills properly. A diverse portfolio is ideal for providing a quick summary of accomplishments and abilities. It is crucial that an illustrator’s portfolio includes reviews and references in addition to prior work.
