Mission of the Position

At Xurrent, the SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) plays a mission-critical role in driving the quality, resilience, and performance of our modern ITSM platform. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining automated testing frameworks, lab and testing tools, to perform validation for the release deployment to the security controlled environments. You’ll collaborate closely with software engineers and DevOps to investigate and resolve test automation failures, perform root cause analysis, and ensure quality and reliability of each release. Your work will directly impact the reliability of our platform for thousands of users and ensure a high bar for engineering excellence.

You will report to the Engineering Lead and collaborate across backend, frontend and AI teams.


Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain test automation frameworks for backend (Rails APIs) and frontend (React).
  • Write testable specifications in collaboration with product and engineering.
  • Develop test plans for new features and own regression planning for releases.
  • Monitor and respond to flaky or failing tests, reducing test debt over time.
  • Investigate and reproduce complex bugs and edge cases reported from production.
  • Participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and design reviews from a testability lens.


Requirements

  • 3–6+ years of experience as an SDET, QA Automation Engineer, or Test Engineer.
  • Strong coding skills in at least one language (preferably Ruby, Python, or JavaScript).
  • Experience with automated testing tools such as Capybara, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Strong team player with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Hands-on experience testing APIs, distributed systems, and microservices.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins and test automation pipelines.
  • Knowledge of performance or load testing frameworks is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and test ownership mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile team environment.
  • Knowledge of AWS is preferred.
  • Passion for developer experience and test reliability.
  • Ability to debug, analyze logs, and pinpoint issues across services.
  • Experience working with infrastructure teams to test integrations and resilience.
  • Familiarity with observability tools.
  • Ability to influence engineering culture around quality and automation.
  • Comfort participating in architectural and system design conversations to improve testability.
