Job SummaryA seasoned professional is sought to spearhead data privacy management across our global network. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in compliance and legal affairs, with experience in implementing robust strategies to ensure data protection.Job DescriptionThe Senior Associate, Privacy Legal and Compliance will be responsible for coordinating and managing data privacy issues and risk across our operations. Key responsibilities include:Developing and implementing campus-wide privacy compliance strategies in accordance with Indian data protection laws (the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023) and relevant international regulations.Conducting regular privacy and data protection audits across all campuses; identifying risks, recommending, and tracking remediation measures.Coordinating with operational teams to ensure robust processes for the compliant handling of student, lead, faculty member, and employee personal data, and providing legal and strategic advice on privacy issues.Drafting, reviewing, and updating privacy policies, procedures, and notices tailored for educational settings.Reviewing and negotiating customer and vendor contracts (which includes drafting and negotiating data processing agreements i.e. DPAs).Conducting privacy impact assessments.Organizing and delivering ongoing privacy awareness and training for employees and faculty members.Responding to data subject requests and complaints concerning data privacy.Monitoring regulatory updates and sector trends to ensure the prompt adoption of necessary operational changes.Supporting incident management, data breach response, and communication with regulatory authorities.Monitoring developments in global regulations, legislature, and privacy best practices, and advising on the need and rationale for changes required within the organization.Required Skills & QualificationsThe successful candidate will possess:Minimum 4 years of privacy or compliance experience, with exposure to audit and privacy operations. Experience in the education sector or campus operations is strongly preferred.Familiarity with Indian data privacy laws and global regulatory frameworks.Law degree (LL.B.) from a recognized university.CIPP/CIPM certification (or equivalent) preferred.Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, solutions-driven mindset.Strong organizational and analytical skills; ability to work across multiple campus environments and stakeholders.Ability to multitask with rapidly changing priorities in a dynamic environment.Self-starter and able to work independently.Team player who can operate within an international environment with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.Possess analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.BenefitsThis role offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact on data privacy management within the organization.
