Responsibility of / Expectations from the Role
API Design : Architect and design RESTful or GraphQL APIs that meet business requirements and adhere to best practices.
Development : Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code for API endpoints, including implementing authentication and authorization mechanisms.
Documentation : Create and maintain comprehensive API documentation for developers and stakeholders, ensuring clarity and usability.
Testing : Implement unit tests and integration tests to ensure API reliability and performance; participate in code reviews.
Performance Optimization : Monitor API performance and implement optimizations to improve response times and scalability.
Security : Ensure API security by following best practices for data protection, access control, and vulnerability management
Collaboration : Work closely with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver effective solutions
Troubleshooting : Diagnose and resolve API issues, providing support to internal and external users as needed.
Versioning : Manage API versioning to ensure backward compatibility while introducing new features.
