Job Description

We’re looking for a Backend Engineer who’s not just about writing code, but about solving real-world problems. You’ll be working with Python, Django, Node.js/Express, and Terraform to build scalable, high-performance backend solutions that power our AI-driven applications. Your work will directly impact how companies save on their cloud infrastructure, and you’ll have the opportunity to work with some of the most advanced technologies in the field.


Key Responsibilities

•Build and maintain backend services: You’ll design and develop robust backend services using Python, Django, and Node.js/Express to support our AI-driven cloud solutions. For example, you’ll implement complex data pipelines or automate AI training processes.

•Database management: You’ll work with both SQL and NoSQL technologies like PostgreSQL and MongoDB, managing data models and implementing efficient query structures to ensure quick and reliable access to crucial data.

•Optimizing APIs: Whether it’s improving the speed of a REST API or designing a new API that handles thousands of requests per second, you’ll ensure all services are scalable and high-performance. For instance, you might optimize how we query Elasticsearch for faster data retrieval.

•Infrastructure as Code: You’ll use Terraform to manage our cloud infrastructure, creating and maintaining efficient, reproducible, and automated environments. Whether it’s provisioning new AWS resources or automating deployments, you’ll ensure the infrastructure is reliable and scalable.

•Collaboration with Frontend Teams: You’ll work closely with our frontend developers to ensure smooth integration between server-side logic and user-facing features. Imagine working on an AI dashboard where backend systems seamlessly power real-time data visualizations.

•Quality and Performance Monitoring: You’ll write unit tests, conduct code reviews, and implement CI/CD pipelines to ensure our codebase remains clean, maintainable, and high-performing. You’ll also keep an eye on performance metrics and tackle any bottlenecks head-on.

•Innovation and Learning: Staying updated with the latest in cloud infrastructure, networking, and AI tech is key. Whether it’s a new AWS service or a better way to scale Elasticsearch, you’ll ensure our team is always learning and evolving.


Requirements

•Proven experience as a Backend Engineer or in a similar role, building production-ready systems.

•Strong proficiency in Python and Django—you’ve built APIs, managed databases, and used Django to handle complex data interactions.

•Experience with Node.js and Express frameworks—whether it’s setting up a new Express-based service or improving an existing one, you know how to make them run efficiently.

•Experience with Elasticsearch or other search technologies—think of designing efficient search queries or optimizing how AI models pull in data.

•Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB)—you’ll be expected to design and maintain data models that scale.

•Solid understanding of networking—like optimizing the flow of data between services or troubleshooting network bottlenecks in cloud environments.

•Experience with boto3 and working with AWS—you’ll have hands-on experience with AWS services, managing resources like S3, EC2, and Lambda using Python.

•Experience with Terraform—you’re comfortable using Terraform for managing cloud infrastructure, automating the provisioning and scaling of resources in AWS or other cloud environments.

•Ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code—this means writing code that is both effective and easy to read and scale for future growth.

•Git proficiency for version control—collaborating on code and tracking changes is second nature to you.

•Problem-solving skills—you love tackling challenges and thinking creatively to solve problems, whether it’s optimizing a slow API or designing a more efficient data pipeline.


Preferred Qualifications

•Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP—you’re familiar with setting up and managing cloud resources at scale.

•Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration—this enables you to create reliable, scalable environments for development and production.

•Familiarity with GraphQL—if you’ve used GraphQL in any project, whether for querying data or integrating it with an API, you’ll hit the ground running.

•Experience with CI/CD pipelines—you’ve set up or maintained a continuous integration/continuous deployment pipeline to automate testing and deployment.

•Experience with data analytics or visualization tools—knowing how to leverage data and display it in insightful ways is a huge plus.
