The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and building mission-critical backend systems for our global travel infrastructure.Search & availability enginesPricing & margin systemsBooking and payment orchestrationDistributed microservices for travel inventoryHigh-performance APIs serving millions of requestsThis is a high-ownership, high-impact role where you shape the core product that powers all user-facing flows.Responsibilities:Backend Architecture & MicroservicesArchitect and develop backend systems using Java 11+, Spring Boot, JPA/HibernateBuild scalable APIs for hotels, flights, bookings, payments, and user systemsDesign domain models, state machines, queues, caching layers, and workflowsImplement idempotency, retries, consistency guarantees, and fault toleranceSearch, Pricing & Booking FlowsBuild low-latency services for search, filtering, availability, and pricingIntegrate with internal pricing engines and caching systemsWork on booking flows requiring transactional correctness and reliabilityIntegrationsIntegrate with external travel suppliers, hotel partners, GDS/NDC APIsIntegrate with payment gateways (Razorpay, Stripe, PayU, UPI)Handle API authentication, rate limits, SLA constraints, and failover logicPerformance, Reliability & ObservabilityImplement circuit breakers, fallbacks, rate limiting (Resilience4J)Optimize APIs for high throughput and sub-200ms latenciesWork with logs, metrics, dashboards, and distributed tracingCollaborate with DevOps on AWS deployments, CI/CD, and scalingTeam LeadershipReview code, support junior engineers, and enforce best practicesDrive technical decisions, architecture reviews, and sprint planningYou'll Bring:Must Have:4+ years experience in backend developmentStrong proficiency in Java 11+, Spring Boot, REST APIsExperience designing and scaling microservicesStrong database skills (PostgreSQL/MySQL) including indexing & optimizationExperience with caching: Redis / ElastiCacheHands-on experience with queues: Kafka / RabbitMQ / SQSStrong understanding of:Transaction boundariesConcurrencyDistributed systems fundamentalsIdempotency and consistency patternsExperience with Docker, CI/CD, and cloud environments (AWS preferred)Nice to Have:Experience with travel-tech, booking systems, payments, inventory, or searchExperience with OpenSearch/ElasticsearchExposure to GDS/NDC, hotel suppliers, or B2B integrationsKnowledge of gRPC, DDD, or hexagonal architectureExperience with high-traffic consumer appsMindset (Important):Ownership-driven, reliable, and detail-orientedPassion for system design, scalability, and backend craftsmanshipThrives in fast-paced, high-autonomy startup environments
