About the RoleIn this role you’ll be responsible for supporting the Fundraiser(s), Management and Regional leads in their fundraising and donor engagement efforts. Your primary responsibility in this role will be to develop compelling proposals and pitch decks to assist the organization in securing funds to meet the identified critical needs of the most vulnerable rural communities. You will work in collaboration with project teams, and will be tasked with coordinating the development of quality written text and pitch decks for technical, financial and commercial proposal/pitch deck documents. You will be taking on a full-time position within the Fundraising team located at WOTR's Pune office.
Key responsibilit ies:
Proposal Writing
Coordinating and collaborating with regional field staff and research teams to gather insights and information that help you build a compelling case for each pro
ject.Develop well-researched, visually appealing, and articulate proposal documents that clearly communicate the project's need assessment, theory of change, and impact, balancing sophistication with clarity and simpli
city.Simplify and effectively communicate the concepts, approaches, and tools WOTR employs in its projects.Assist management and regional teams in refining pitch decks, proposals, and other communication materials shared with donors
2.Identifying Relevant Grant Calls and RFPs
Monitor donor and development websites to identify relevant RFPs and grant opportunities that align with WOTR’s mi
ssion.Build and maintain a comprehensive database of sources for RFPs and grant opportunities relevant to WOTR’s work.
3.Secondary Research and Staying Updated
Stay informed about shifting donor priorities, new frameworks, and contemporary development approaches to ensure relevance and impact at the proposal development
stage.Keep yourself and the team updated on policy changes, trends, and emerging concepts in the development sector.
We’re looking for someone with :
A deep passion for rural development and a strong commitment to uplifting vulnerable rural communities from poverty. A solution-oriented mindset, with a practical approach to problem-solving. Patience and compassion, understanding the challenges of working within the often-unstructured nature of the Indian non-profit sector. Willingness to travel at least once in 2 months.
Qualification Required:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Economics, or a related field.
1-3 years of experience in content writing, communications, grant writing, or secondary research.
Desired Skills:
Reporting and documentation, combined with a creative mindset and exceptional writing skills.
Excellent visual communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear and engaging slides or infographics.
Proficiency in tools such as Canva, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Suite.
The ability to work independently, demonstrating diligence and initiative without requiring constant supervision.
A curiosity to explore innovative storytelling methods and new tools for business development.
Strong time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines while juggling multipleprojects.
Ability to build strong networks and relationships within the organization.
