Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled MERN Stack Backend Lead Engineer to spearhead the development of backend systems for our virtual classroom platform. This role focuses on building scalable, secure, and efficient backend services that will power our unique student engagement features.


Responsibilities:


  • Backend Development: Lead backend development efforts using MongoDB, Express.js, and Node.js (MERN stack), ensuring robust, secure, and scalable APIs and services.
  • Real-Time Features: Develop and optimise backend solutions for real-time features, such as chat, shared whiteboards, and material sharing, tailored for an educational environment.
  • API Integration: Oversee the integration of third-party services, such as video and audio analytics, to assess student engagement during virtual sessions.
  • Data Insights: Implement backend logic to collect and process user interaction data, generating actionable insights to improve educational outcomes.
  • Performance & Security: Ensure backend services are optimised for performance, scalability, and data security, maintaining high standards of protection and privacy.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with front-end developers, educators, and other stakeholders to integrate backend services seamlessly into the platform.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and lead backend developers, enforcing best practices in coding, testing, and automation to ensure high-quality software delivery.


Qualifications:


  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in backend development using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, and Node.js).
  • Proficiency: Deep understanding of backend architecture, RESTful APIs, real-time data streaming, and modern authorization mechanisms.
  • Database Expertise: Strong experience with MongoDB, including optimization, scaling, and working with large datasets.
  • Version Control: Experience with Git and other version control systems.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to design and implement scalable backend solutions.
  • Team Leadership: Experience leading backend development teams and mentoring junior developers.
