Database Administrator Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to lead our database team.Responsibilities:Design, develop and implement database systems ensuring they meet business requirements and adhere to industry best practices.Optimize database performance through tuning indexing and other techniques to ensure efficient data access and system response times.Implement and maintain data security measures including access controls, data encryption and regular security audits.Develop and maintain database backup and disaster recovery plans ensuring the availability and integrity of our data assets.Monitor database systems for performance issues proactively identifying and resolving problems to minimize downtime and maintain system reliability.Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists and software developers to integrate database solutions with data pipelines, analytics platforms and software applications.Mentor and guide junior database administrators providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of learning and collaboration within the team.Stay current on emerging database technologies, trends and best practices identifying opportunities for their application within our data infrastructure.Requirements:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.8-10 years of experience in database administration roles with a strong understanding of relational and NoSQL database systems.Expert knowledge of database management systems including MySQL, PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server.Strong SQL and query tuning skills, experience with database optimization techniques.Strong understanding of data security and privacy best practices and regulations.Experience with database backup and disaster recovery planning and implementation.Familiarity with cloud-based database services such as AWS RDS or Azure SQL Database.Familiarity with vector databases and embedding workflows, semantic search and hybrid search strategies.Excellent problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills.Outstanding communication and leadership abilities.Ability to adapt to a fast-paced dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly through various channels.
