Tooling Manager

Qua tools specializes in Design, Development and Manufacturing of plastic injection moulds for Automobile, White goods and various other engineering industries. It is a new company and needs someone with the same passion to take it to new heights. Responsibilities 1.0 Lead the tool room department in tool quote, tool designing, manufacturing with ensuring performance and quality. Manage all tooling activities and provide technical leadership. From start till completion of plastic injection tool with over moulding, unscrewing core, mould flow, hot runner with multi colour & multi colour impression/cavity. (Feasibility report, Tool quotation, recommendation /suggestion, planning, ordering std parts, design co-ordination, tool design review, tool manufacturing planning & tool trail). 2. Collaborate with teams to translate product designs, specifications, and requirements into efficient and effective tooling solutions. 3. Manage tooling projects from concept to completion, including design reviews, feasibility assessments, cost estimates, and production planning. 4. Oversee tool design, CAD modelling, machining, and assembly processes to meet quality, cost, and timeline objectives. 5. Conduct design reviews, simulations to validate tool designs. 6. Implement design changes, modifications, and improvements based on feedback, testing results, and continuous improvement initiatives. 7. Develop and maintain tooling standards, procedures, and documentation to ensure consistency, compliance, and traceability. 8. Monitor tool performance, conduct regular maintenance, repairs, and calibration to prolong tool life and minimize downtime. 9. Train and mentor tool room personnel on best practices, safety protocols, and technical skills related to tool design and maintenance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, and quality assurance to address tooling issues, support new product launches, and improve manufacturing processes. 10.0 Manage the tooling projects team to ensure delivery of new tooling against the agreed tooling specification, to meet agreed quality standards, costs and project timelines. 11.0 Collaborate with Quality and Product support to root cause analyse and solve production issues. Qualifications Preferred candidate profile: · Extensive experience in tool room management, tool design, and product development, with expertise in fastener manufacturing. · Proficiency in CAD/CAM software, CNC machining, GD&T, and design analysis tools. · Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and tooling technologies. · Knowledge of quality standards, metrology, and inspection techniques related to tooling and machining. · Leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills with a focus on quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement. · Excellent communication, collaboration, and team-building skills. Strong background in Tool design & manufacturing understanding. · Highly logical thinking and a creative approach to problem solving. · Experience of product development/design for moulding for moulded products · Strong communication skills (written and verbal). · Computer literate – Excel/Word/Office/MS Project. · CAD skills (any3D CAD package). · Good time management & planning skills · Able to work collaboratively. · Able to demonstrate “I can do attitude”. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: SUPERVISION: Works with minimal supervision. Lead by example, promote a positive work environment for all employees. EDUCATION: Diploma in Engineering / NTTF /CIPET/GTTC or equivalent certification will be an added advantage.
