The Citrix SME is responsible for providing deep technical expertise and leadership in the design, implementation, and support of Citrix solutions within the organization. The SME will manage and optimize Citrix environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. This role collaborates with IT teams to deliver robust virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions and troubleshooting for Citrix-related issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Citrix Design & Architecture:
  • Architect and design Citrix solutions (XenApp, XenDesktop, Citrix ADC/NetScaler, etc.) based on business requirements.
  • Ensure scalability, reliability, and security in Citrix deployments.
  • Collaborate with network, storage, and server teams to integrate Citrix environments with the overall IT infrastructure.
  • Implementation & Deployment:
  • Lead the deployment of Citrix solutions, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Configure and manage Citrix farms, Citrix StoreFront, and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments.
  • Manage Citrix Application Layering and Citrix Workspace app implementations.
  • Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting:
  • Monitor and tune Citrix environments for optimal performance and load balancing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Citrix-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to users.
  • Perform regular health checks of Citrix infrastructure and address performance bottlenecks.
  • Upgrades & Patching:
  • Plan and execute upgrades, patches, and migrations for Citrix components and associated infrastructure.
  • Ensure compatibility with the latest Citrix releases and integrate with third-party tools and applications.
  • Security & Compliance:
  • Implement and maintain Citrix security policies, including access control, encryption, and secure gateways.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational security standards and policies.
  • Perform regular audits to maintain security and compliance in Citrix environments.
  • End-User Support:
  • Provide expert-level support for Citrix environments, including XenApp, XenDesktop, and NetScaler.
  • Assist in troubleshooting end-user issues related to virtual desktops and published applications.
  • Collaborate with helpdesk and IT support teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Documentation & Training:
  • Create and maintain technical documentation related to Citrix architecture, configuration, and processes.
  • Train IT teams on Citrix best practices and support procedures.
  • Develop user guides for end-users to improve the adoption and efficient use of Citrix solutions.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Certifications: Citrix Certified Professional (CCP-V) or Citrix Certified Expert (CCE-V) preferred.
  • Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience working with Citrix technologies (XenApp, XenDesktop, Citrix ADC/NetScaler, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with VDI solutions, Citrix Workspace, and related technologies.
  • Expertise in Citrix performance tuning, troubleshooting, and environment optimization.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policies, and integration with Citrix.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops, Citrix ADC (NetScaler), and StoreFront.
  • Strong understanding of VDI architecture, virtualization concepts (VMware/Hyper-V), and networking principles.
  • Proficiency in Citrix Workspace, application publishing, and remote desktop protocols.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills in diagnosing and resolving Citrix performance issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with IT teams and end-users.
  • Ability to manage large-scale Citrix deployments and optimize virtual environments.
