Job Description: Location: Bengaluru Experience :7+ Work Mode : Hybrid Job Mode : Contract to Hire Job Title: AS400 Admin Role Summary: Key AS400 Admin Tasks OS, Virtualization and Hardware-Operations Support - UNIX (HP-UX, IBM-AIX, Solaris 1. Good understanding of • System architecture based on business needs. • Plan logical partitioning (LPARs) for workload separation. • Experience on high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies. • Plan capacity (CPU, memory, disk) based on growth projections. 2. Infrastructure Integration • Integrate AS400 with other enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Windows servers). • Configure communication protocols (ODBC, JDBC, FTP, SFTP, MQ). • Enable web services and APIs using IBM i Access or REST interfaces. 3. LPAR & Virtualization Management • Configure and manage LPARs using HMC (Hardware Management Console). • Allocate resources across partitions. • Monitor inter-LPAR communication and performance. 4. Security Architecture • Design role-based access control and object-level security. • Implement encryption (SSL/TLS) and secure protocols. • Plan for audit logging and compliance (SOX, GDPR, etc.). 5. Good understanding of Database Architecture • DB2 for i database schemas and indexing strategies. • Handon experience journaling, commitment control, and data replication. • Optimize physical and logical file structures. 6. Backup & Recovery understanding • BRMS policies for enterprise-wide backup. • Tape library or virtual tape systems (VTL). • Plan for remote backups and cloud integration. 7. Middleware & Application Integration • Deploy and manage middleware like WebSphere, MQSeries. • Support RPG, COBOL, CL, and Java applications. • Plan for modernization (e.g., converting green screens to web UIs). 8. Performance & Scalability Planning • Understand performance baselines and thresholds. • Plan for load balancing and job distribution. • Architect solutions for peak load handling. 9. Monitoring & Automation Framework • Provide information on enterprise monitoring tools (Nagios, Robot Monitor). • Setup automated alerting and remediation workflows. • Integrate with SIEM tools for security monitoring.
