Position Overview:

The Director of Technology for the Payment Platform will be responsible for leading the technological vision, strategy, and execution for the company's payment systems. This role involves overseeing the development, integration, and management of scalable, secure, and innovative payment solutions that meet the needs of the business and its customers. The Director will collaborate closely with engineering, product, compliance, and operational teams to ensure the payment platform is reliable, efficient, and future-proof.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and execute the technology strategy for the payment platform in alignment with company goals and market demands.
  • Lead the design and implementation of cutting-edge payment solutions to enhance the customer experience and optimize payment processing.
  • Stay ahead of trends in payment technologies, industry regulations, and best practices to maintain competitive advantage and ensure compliance.
  • Platform Management:
  • Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of payment systems, including architecture, development, integration, and scaling.
  • Manage the performance, security, and reliability of the payment platform, ensuring uptime, stability, and data integrity.
  • Coordinate the integration of new payment gateways, third-party services, and financial institutions.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of engineers and technologists to execute on the payment platform roadmap.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the technology team.
  • Set clear goals and provide guidance on technical direction, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the product, operations, and business teams to define the requirements and roadmap for payment solutions.
  • Collaborate with compliance and legal teams to ensure that payment systems meet all regulatory and security standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR).
  • Engage with stakeholders to prioritize features, improvements, and innovations for the payment platform.
  • Technology Innovation:
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., blockchain, machine learning, AI) to enhance payment processing capabilities.
  • Champion innovation in payment solutions, focusing on security, speed, scalability, and user experience.
  • Continuously assess the competitive landscape to ensure that the payment platform remains cutting-edge.
  • Risk Management & Compliance:
  • Oversee the identification and mitigation of risks associated with payment processing, fraud prevention, and data privacy.
  • Ensure the platform adheres to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead efforts in managing incident response and recovery in the event of system failures or security breaches.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
  • Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness and performance of the payment platform.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on platform performance, key challenges, and strategic initiatives.
  • Analyze data and feedback to make data-driven decisions to optimize platform functionality.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certifications is a plus.
  • Experience:
  • 10+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with a focus on payment systems, digital payments, or financial technology.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale payment platforms or fintech solutions, including payment gateways, processors, and fraud prevention systems.
  • Strong background in software development, systems integration, and architecture design, with experience in cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and payment processing technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and driving the delivery of complex, high-impact technology projects.
  • Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of payment technologies (e.g., mobile payments, card networks, digital wallets, ACH, SWIFT).
  • Familiarity with security standards and compliance requirements (e.g., PCI-DSS, PSD2, GDPR).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with an ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies and project management tools.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience with emerging technologies in payments (blockchain, cryptocurrencies, AI-driven fraud detection).
  • Background in working with international payment systems and cross-border transactions.
  • Knowledge of API integrations and microservices architecture.
