Team Lead – Software Engineer

Having a rich diverse, proven experience of delivering over 350+ product installations in 25 years around core Telecom networks globally & having successfully seen through and adapted to rapid technology changes in Telecom from 2G to 5G today spanning across APAC, SAARC Countries, Europe, USA, Middle East, Africa & Indian Ocean RIM Countries.Our core network product portfolio includes solutions such as PCRF for Data and VoLTE, Converged Real-Time Rating and Charging, and Unified Policy Control and Charging. In addition, our digital stack offerings encompass a comprehensive range of platforms and services, including Telecom Big Data Analytics, Loyalty and Campaign Management, Omnichannel Self-Care, Mediation, eKYC, Mobile Financial Services (such as Mobile Money and Electronic Top-up) and Consolidated Messaging Platforms (including USSD Gateway, SMSC and Notification Systems).  Role Summary:We are looking for a Technical Team Lead with strong experience in 3GPP Policy and Charging Systems (OCS, PCRF, PCF) and hands-on expertise in Java and/or C++ development. This role requires deep telecom domain knowledge along with the technical leadership to drive enhancements that align with 5G network demands including scalability, performance and microservices-based architecture.You will lead a team of engineers, actively contribute to low-level design and development and collaborate closely with senior architects to implement new capabilities and performance optimizations.Key Responsibilities:·      Lead the technical development of product modules in the Policy & Charging domain, adhering to 3GPP specifications.·      Collaborate with product architects to enhance architectural components to support 5G requirements, performance improvements and scale-out capabilities.·      Own low-level design and ensure high-quality, maintainable code in Java or C++.·      Guide and mentor a team of engineers through daily standups, sprint planning, technical problem-solving and code reviews.·      Design and develop microservices using Spring Boot, with high availability and low-latency performance in mind.·      Integrate and manage Kafka for event-driven processing and Redis for caching and session management.·      Work with relational databases including PostgreSQL and MySQL.·      Ensure software solutions meet operational requirements for high reliability, uptime and performance.·      Coordinate with QA, DevOps and product stakeholders in an Agile environment. Skills & Experience:·      Telecom Domain Expertiseo  In-depth understanding of 3GPP standards related to:o  OCS (Online Charging System).o  PCRF (Policy and Charging Rules Function).o  PCF (Policy Control Function) for 5G.o  Converged real-time rating and charging models.·      Technical Skills:o  Proficient in Java and/or C++ with strong coding and debugging skills.o  Hands-on with Spring Boot including Spring MVC, Spring Data and Spring Cloud.o  Solid grasp of microservices architecture and inter-service communication patterns.o  Experience with Apache Kafka for real-time event streaming.o  Knowledge of Redis for caching and session state.o  Experience working with PostgreSQL, MySQL; familiarity with Columnar DB is a plus.o  Ability to write and maintain RESTful APIs and services.·      Leadership & Communication:o  2+ years in a technical leadership or team lead role.o  Ability to guide and mentor engineers on design, architecture and clean coding practices.o  Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.o  Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments. Nice to Have:·      Exposure to 5G core network functions.·      Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.·      Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. Educational Qualifications:·      Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications or a related engineering field.·      Equivalent industry experience in telecom product development is also acceptable.
