What we are looking forRole: SIOPS Junior Server EngineerExperience Range: 4 – 6 YearsLocation: Bangalore/Chennai/Hyderabad/Indore/Pune
Must-Have:
Knowledge of some combination of server hardware, Cisco UCS, VMWare virtualization, DellEMC vBlock/VxRack/VxRail.Knowledge of server operating systems, SAN storage, data center networking and end user computing.Experience with Cisco USC Director (UCS-D) and VMWare Site Recovery Manager (SRM)Design, architect, and implement robust, scalable compute and storage infrastructure based on project requirements.Collaborate with solution architects to ensure infrastructure aligns with overall business and technical objectives.Provision and configure physical and virtual servers, ensuring adherence to best practices and security standards.Manage virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and containerized workloads using platforms like Docker and Kubernetes.Oversee server maintenance, including patching, firmware updates, and hardware replacements.Configure and maintain storage solutions (SAN, NAS, DAS), optimizing for performance, capacity, and cost-efficiency.Implement data redundancy, backups, and disaster recovery protocols to ensure high availability and data integrity.Monitor and manage storage resources to prevent bottlenecks, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.Incident resolution work in our distributed compute and storage environments.Validating the status of a system and may require taking action to resolve. Examples of common incidents include server backup failure alerts, server process in a critical state, server resources (cpu, memory or disk) are overutilized, vCenter failure, disk failure.Document automation and deployment processes to ensure knowledge transfer and support scalability.Set up and monitor infrastructure performance using tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus.Conduct root cause analysis and resolve incidents related to server and storage performance, access, or data loss.Implement proactive monitoring alerts to detect and resolve issues before they impact operations.Ensure infrastructure complies with security policies and industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO).Apply access controls, encryption, and network segmentation to safeguard data and prevent unauthorized access.Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and participate in security audits.Forecast server and storage capacity needs based on project and application growth, adjusting resources as needed.Optimize infrastructure to improve performance and reduce costs by eliminating unused resources or optimizing resource allocation.Maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure configurations, policies, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for server and storage operations.Train junior engineers or other stakeholders on server management best practices and tools.Work closely with cross-functional teams (network, security, DevOps, application teams) to support project requirements and timelines.Assist in evaluating and integrating new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance the infrastructure.Provide feedback on infrastructure improvements to enhance project delivery and align with organizational goals.
