Metadata Stewardship OpportunityThe Data Catalog Manager is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and accessibility of our data assets. We are seeking an experienced professional to lead the setup and governance of our enterprise data catalog using Alation.Key Responsibilities:Implement and operationalize Alation across the organization as the primary Metadata Steward.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to catalog critical datasets, data pipelines, reports, dashboards, and metrics.Perform hands-on metadata curation, including writing and validating business definitions, technical descriptions, lineage, and data usage notes.Profile datasets using SQL to understand structure, quality, and relationships and ensure accurate documentation.Translate complex data logic into clear, business-friendly descriptions that support data literacy across stakeholders.Coordinate with metric owners and SMEs to document and validate metric definitions, calculations, and usage context.Ensure adherence to data governance and stewardship standards, including stewardship workflows, ownership, and approvals within Alation.Drive user adoption and enablement by conducting demos, training sessions, and office hours.Establish and maintain data catalog KPIs (coverage, freshness, usage) and continuously improve catalog quality.
