We are seeking a Materials Specialist to join our team and contribute to the development of a sustainability marketplace in the AEC industry. As a Materials Specialist, you will play a crucial role in evaluating and curating sustainable materials for the marketplace, ensuring that only environmentally friendly and socially responsible options are available to industry professionals. Your expertise in materials analysis and sustainability will be instrumental in promoting sustainable practices and driving positive change within the AEC sector.
Responsibilities
Conduct extensive research and analysis of sustainable materials, evaluating their environmental impact, certifications, and compliance with industry standards.Collaborate with manufacturers, suppliers, and industry experts to gather information on sustainable material options, including specifications, performance data, and pricing.Assess the lifecycle sustainability of materials, considering factors such as raw material sourcing, manufacturing processes, transportation, use, and end-of-life disposal or recycling.Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of sustainable materials, including technical specifications, certifications, availability, and pricing.Work closely with the development team to integrate the sustainable materials database into the platform, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is accessible to users.Collaborate with the marketplace team to curate and categorize sustainable materials, organizing them in a user-friendly manner.Provide guidance and support to marketplace users, assisting them in navigating the sustainable materials offerings and making informed choices.Stay informed about the latest advancements in sustainable materials, certifications, and emerging industry trends, and proactively suggest new materials for inclusion in the marketplace.Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including product managers and marketing teams, to develop and implement strategies to promote the sustainability marketplace and increase user engagement.Prepare reports, presentations, and educational materials to communicate the value and benefits of sustainable materials to marketplace users and industry professionals.
QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Real Estate, Sustainability, CPM, or a related field.Proven experience of 3-5 years as a Materials Specialist, preferably with a focus on sustainability and environmental impact analysis.Strong knowledge of sustainable materials and certifications such as LEED, Cradle to Cradle, or Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations related to sustainable materials in the AEC industry.Experience in conducting material testing and analysis, with a focus on environmental performance indicators and lifecycle assessments.Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to interpret complex technical information and communicate it effectively.Strong research skills, with the ability to gather and synthesize information from various sources.Familiarity with database management and data organization principles, with experience in maintaining material databases being a plus.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.Passion for sustainability and a commitment to driving positive environmental impact through the promotion of sustainable materials in the AEC industry.
