Job OverviewAs a Vector Database Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining database environments in production. This includes monitoring health, performance, and availability using built-in tools and custom alerts.Database Administration:Manage Astra DB Serverless (Vector) environments in production.Monitor database health, performance, and availability.Implement backup, restore, and cloning strategies for disaster recovery and operational continuity.You will also be responsible for data operations, supporting ingestion and indexing of vector data for Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) applications. This includes optimizing storage and query performance using Storage Attached Indexing and vector search capabilities. Additionally, you will collaborate with data engineering teams to design and maintain schemas and collections.Security and compliance are critical aspects of this role. You will ensure database security through role-based access control, encryption, and audit logging. Compliance with internal and external data governance policies is also essential.Automation and integration are key components of this position. You will automate operational tasks using Astra APIs and CI/CD pipelines. Integrating Astra DB with AI platforms (e.g., OpenAI, Vertex AI) and developer tools (e.g., GitHub, Vercel) is also crucial.
