Job Description: Toolroom Engineer

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Toolroom Engineer with a strong focus on SolidWorks CAD, product design, and mold design for the rubber and plastic industry. The ideal candidate will excel in project planning, coordination with the toolroom team, and managing end-to-end tooling operations. A solid understanding of preventive maintenance for toolroom and production machinery is also essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• CAD & Product Design:

• Utilize SolidWorks CAD to design and develop 3D models and technical drawings for molds and rubber/plastic components.

• Create detailed designs that meet precision and quality standards while optimizing manufacturability.

• Collaborate with the production team to incorporate feedback and improve designs.

• Mold Design:

• Develop and refine mold designs for rubber and plastic applications, ensuring durability and functionality.

• Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate best practices in mold-making techniques.

• Project Planning & Coordination:

• Plan and oversee mold and tool development projects, ensuring timelines, resources, and quality standards are met.

• Coordinate effectively with the toolroom team, including machinists and operators, to ensure seamless execution.

• Monitor project progress, address challenges proactively, and ensure on-time delivery.

• Work closely with the toolroom team to oversee operations involving machinery such as lathe, VMC, EDM, and surface grinders.

• Integrate CAD and CAM workflows to streamline operations and reduce lead times.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Educational Background:

• Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

• Core Expertise:

• Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD (essential).

• Strong knowledge of mold design for the rubber and plastic industry.

• Understanding of product design principles and manufacturability.

• Project Management Skills:

• Proven experience in planning, coordinating, and managing tooling projects.

• Ability to work effectively across teams and departments.

• Additional Skills:

• Working knowledge of SolidCAM is advantageous.

• Familiarity with toolroom machinery such as lathe, VMC, EDM, and surface grinders.

• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

• Understanding of safety protocols in toolroom operations.

Preferred Experience:

• 3+ years of experience in mold design and toolroom operations.

• Prior experience with CAD/CAM integration.

• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a manufacturing setup.
