Title: System Software Architect/Manager
Role Overview:
As the System Software Architect/Manager, you will play a key leadership role in designing, architecting, and managing the development of system-level software for our semiconductor products. You will work closely with hardware, firmware, and application teams to define system requirements and develop software solutions that ensure seamless integration and optimal performance. This role requires both technical expertise and leadership experience, as you will be managing a team of software engineers while also being hands-on in the development and architecture of system software.
Key Responsibilities:
· Team Leadership & Management:
o Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers focused on system software development.
o Set the direction for the team, define key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensure successful delivery of software projects on schedule.
o Provide technical guidance and leadership, ensuring high-quality software design and implementation.
· System Software Architecture & Development:
o Design and architect system software solutions, including device drivers, OS kernel components, and middleware.
o Define software architecture to meet the performance, scalability, power, and functional requirements of the hardware platform.
o Work on embedded software, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and low-level hardware-software interfaces, including bootloaders and firmware.
· Collaboration & Cross-Functional Work:
o Collaborate closely with hardware design, firmware, and application teams to define system software requirements.
o Ensure the system software integrates seamlessly with the hardware design, optimizing performance and power efficiency.
o Engage with external partners, vendors, and open-source communities to adopt and integrate new technologies.
· Software Development Best Practices:
o Establish and promote best practices for software development, including code quality, testing, and documentation standards.
o Ensure the team follows Agile development methodologies, using CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated testing frameworks.
o Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance software performance, reduce bugs, and streamline the development process.
· Technical Troubleshooting & Debugging:
o Lead the team in identifying and resolving complex software and system-level issues.
o Utilize tools for software performance profiling, debugging, and optimizing code for efficient operation on the hardware platform.
o Work with hardware engineers to debug issues that involve hardware-software interaction.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
· 10-15 years of experience in system software development, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
· Extensive experience in developing and architecting system-level software, including device drivers, operating systems, and firmware.
· Strong proficiency in C/C++ and low-level programming for embedded systems.
· Deep understanding of hardware-software interaction, including interrupt handling, memory management, and peripheral interfacing.
· Experience with Linux kernel, RTOS, or other real-time systems.
· Familiarity with hardware platforms such as ARM, RISC-V, or x86 architectures.
· Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and performance optimization skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience in the semiconductor industry, especially in startups or fast-paced environments.
· Experience working on SoC architectures, multi-core processors, and power management techniques.
· Familiarity with security protocols, virtualization, and secure boot processes.
· Knowledge of hardware accelerators and heterogeneous compute systems (e.g., GPUs, FPGAs, DSPs).
· Experience with industry-standard software development tools, version control systems (e.g., Git), and CI/CD pipelines.
