Job Description

Phonologies is looking for a seasoned Senior Data Scientist to join our team and lead the development of our innovative AI/ML models that drive our financial products and services which we offer to our BFSI clients worldwide.


Ideal candidate should be able to implement sophisticated AI and machine learning models that address complex financial challenges. You should possess advanced programming skills in Python & R, and implement state-of-the-art deep learning models using frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow. You should also be able to lead a remote or onsite team of data scientists, providing guidance on technical challenges, project management, and professional development.


Role & responsibilities

  • AI/ML Model Design and Development : You will be responsible for designing and developing advanced AI and machine learning models to solve complex financial problems. This includes building and managing entire machine learning pipelines from data collection to deployment, focusing on optimizing algorithms for performance, scalability, and robustness.
  • Advanced Programming and Algorithm Optimization : You will utilize advanced programming skills in Python and R to develop, test, and optimize machine learning algorithms, particularly deep learning models using PyTorch and TensorFlow. Your role involves ensuring these models meet the real-time processing needs of financial applications, while continuously reviewing and refining code for optimal quality and efficiency.
  • Domain-Specific Expertise Application : Utilize in-depth knowledge of the BFSI sector to develop models that predict risk, optimize portfolios, and simulate investment outcomes using methods like Monte Carlo simulations. Expertise in actuarial science and risk ratio analysis will be essential for creating models that effectively assess and manage risk in insurance and financial portfolios.
  • Team Leadership : Lead a team of remote data scientists, providing guidance on technical challenges, project management, and professional development.
  • MLFlow and Infrastructure Management : You will manage the deployment and maintenance of machine learning models using shared MLFlow/Dagshub, ensuring their seamless integration into the production environment.
  • Comprehensive Data Analysis and Reporting : Analyzing large, complex datasets to extract actionable insights that inform business decisions and strategy will be a critical part of your role.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with product development and operations teams to ensure the seamless integration of AI/ML models into our products. Acting as a bridge between the technical and business sides of the business.


Preferred candidate profile

  • Experience:  At least 7+ years of experience in Data Science with a strong focus on AI/ML model design and development.
  • Technical Proficiency:  Advanced skills in Python, R, PyTorch, and TensorFlow.
  • MLFlow Expertise:  Proven experience working with MLFlow/Dagshub, with the ability to manage model lifecycle and collaboration.
  • Domain Knowledge:  Extensive experience in finance, BFSI, risk management, investment, and insurance sectors.
  • Leadership:  Demonstrated experience in leading and managing remote teams, with a focus on productivity and collaboration.
  • Analytical Skills:  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with and extract insights from large datasets.
  • Communication:  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Education:  A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. Advanced degrees are preferred.
