Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Cricket Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating high-quality cricket content, while also contributing to coverage of other sports. You will play a key role in shaping the editorial strategy, ensuring engaging, traffic driving content across platforms. With an eye on upcoming sports events, you will plan, execute, and contribute to both the editorial desk and field reporting, including exclusive interviews and live coverage.

Key Responsibilities:

Cricket Content Creation:

• Produce in-depth articles, match reports, analysis, and feature stories on cricket.
• Cover major cricket events, series, and tournaments with a focus on driving traffic through engaging content.
• Stay ahead of trends in cricket, providing fresh perspectives and insights.

Cross-Sport Contributions:

• Contribute articles, interviews, and coverage on other sports as needed, ensuring a well-rounded sports section.

Editorial Strategy and Planning:

• Collaborate with the editorial team to plan and develop content for upcoming cricket and sports events.
• Create a content calendar to ensure timely and relevant coverage of major sports events.
• Interact constantly with freelancers to drive the content and edit their articles.

Reporting:

• Go out in the field to bring back exclusive cricket stories, interviews, and insights from players, coaches, and other sports personalities.
• Conduct video interviews and participate in live shows to provide expert analysis and engage with the audience.

Desk Management:

• Oversee the desk during live cricket events, coordinating updates, live blogs, and instant reaction pieces. Editing/Subbing articles of freelancers, CMS management.
• Ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of content.

Traffic and Engagement:

• Optimize content for SEO and drive traffic through creative storytelling, catchy headlines, and engaging social media presence. Good understanding of Google Search & Discover to drive traffic. Scouting stories from social media handles and engage with the social media team to create multimedia content.
• Monitor performance analytics to refine content strategies.
