Role Purpose
The position is set to ensures efficient and cost-effective cargo movement by optimizing routes and managing Third-Party feeders. This role involves monitoring Third-party feeder performance, assessing port pair efficiency, and developing strategies to enhance throughput. The lead ensures regulatory compliance, manages costs, and collaborates with transshipment team to optimize schedules and address transshipment issues, driving innovation and supporting network optimization for seamless cargo flow.
Role Accountabilities
Route Optimization Tasks -
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of feeder operators by analyzing key metrics such as on-time performance, transit times, and reliability. Use this data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Assess the efficiency of port pairs by analyzing throughput, turnaround times, and congestion levels. Identify bottlenecks and implement strategies to enhance the flow of cargo between ports.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize through routes, ensuring minimal delays and maximum efficiency. This includes adjusting schedules and routes based on performance data and operational needs.
- Develop reports on schedule adherence and performance analysis to stakeholders. Highlight any issues, recommend corrective actions, and track the implementation of these actions.
- Analyze impact of Network changes and Phase -in/out plan and propose optimal routing plan.
- Be part of quarterly Hub review process and provide analysis of volume flow, transshipment cost.
Schedule Management Tasks -
- Ensure feeder schedules are created for relevant transshipment ports and stakeholders are informed.
- Ensure all scheduling activities comply with relevant regulations and standards.
- Work with Cost and Vendor payment team for Feeder vessel Departure report for FDR cost creation.
- Identify opportunities to optimize feeder schedules for cost efficiency and operational effectiveness Measure transshipment failure performance and perform root cause analysis with Capacity, Customer success and Operations teams.
Performance Measurements -
- Establish and Implement Key Performance Indicator (KPI) to ensure optimal route management, leading to reduced costs.
1.Schedule Performance –
- % successful transshipment connections made as per schedule.
- Degree to which actual feeder operations adhere to the planned schedule.
- Monitor the adherence of third-party feeder schedules to mother vessels, minimizing delays and disruptions.
2.Optimal Route Measurements –
- % of shipments that arrive on time to ensure reliability.
- Assess the efficiency of port pairs by analyzing through routes, turnaround times, and congestion levels. Identify and address bottlenecks to enhance cargo flow between ports.
- Measure the volume of cargo handled through each route and transshipment port, ensuring that third-party feeders contribute to overall efficiency.
- Track costs associated with route management and feeder operations, aiming to reduce expenses while maintaining high service levels.
Scope -
- Measure Optimize routes & Third-Party Feeder Performance.
- Oversee schedule adherence, regulatory compliance, and cost management.
Safety
- Take responsibility for the safety of myself and those around me by displaying safety leadership principles (i.e., Safety I’s & Accountability ladder).
- Challenging and stopping unsafe acts and behaviors or unsafe conditions.
- Comply with the Global Safety Standards, Polices and Operating Procedures.
Key Qualifications & Skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree holder with 5 to 7 years of experience in Shipping and Logistics.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge about dangerous goods and breakbulk management.
Professional Skills
- Shipping and logistics background with at least 5 years of route optimization & Third-party feeder management knowledge is preferable.
- Having marine background is an added advantage.
- You should be a good communicator who is able to interact and convey ideas when working with cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders.
- You are innovating and driven to provide solutions and ideas that will improve our service level and reduce our operational cost.
- You are a diligent, self-disciplined, and upright individual, accepting personal ownership of your results.
- You will need to be flexible in making decisions and prioritizing tasks and be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and complexity.
