Head of Engineering

Role Summary  

FinOpsly is scaling rapidly—and with that growth comes the need to build the scaffolding that lets us move fast and safe. We are seeking a Head of Engineering (Velocity & Execution) to lead our engineering organization across enterprise SaaS and AI-driven platforms. This role is accountable for driving speed, quality, and output across teams—overseeing full-stack developers, data engineers, and AI/ML engineers—while ensuring flawless execution against product and business goals. 

The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership, thrives in fast-paced startup environments, and is passionate about translating innovation into production at startup speed. 

What You’ll do:  

  Engineering Leadership & Delivery  

• Own engineering execution, ensuring velocity, quality, and on-time delivery of SaaS and AI features. 
• Lead multiple teams (full-stack, data engineering, AI/ML) across the product lifecycle—from design to deployment. 
• Establish and enforce agile best practices, sprint discipline, and outcome-driven execution. 
• Build a culture of accountability, speed, and excellence within engineering. 

Architecture & Technical Depth  

• Provide hands-on guidance in Next.js, Node.js, scalable SaaS architectures, and AI-driven systems. 
• Review designs, code, and architecture to ensure technical soundness and scalability. 
• Partner with product leaders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions. 
• Ensure systems are built with security, reliability, and performance as first-class priorities. 

Team Development & Culture  

• Recruit, mentor, and grow high-performing engineers across full-stack, data, and AI/ML. 
• Inspire and align the team to deliver at startup speed without compromising quality. 
• Build cross-functional collaboration between engineering, product, and design. 
• Champion a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and learning. 

Operational Excellence  

• Define and track engineering KPIs (velocity, code quality, release frequency, defect rates, uptime). 
• Implement processes and automation to streamline CI/CD, testing, and release management. 
• Proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and blockers, driving solutions before they impact delivery. 
• Ensure transparent communication of progress, risks, and outcomes to leadership and stakeholders. 

What You’ll Bring  

• 10+ years in software engineering with 5+ years in engineering leadership roles. 
• Hands-on expertise in the full-stack application lifecycle, including Next.js, Node.js, and scalable SaaS architectures. 
• Experience leading AI/ML platform teams and integrating AI into production systems. 
• Strong knowledge of agile methodologies and proven ability to scale engineering execution in high-growth environments. 
• Track record of delivering complex SaaS products with velocity and high quality. 
• Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills. 
• A startup mindset: thrive in ambiguity, move fast, and lead by doing. 

Preferred:  

• Experience in enterprise SaaS platforms with multi-tenant architectures. 
• Exposure to compliance frameworks (SOC2, HIPAA, GDPR) in engineering execution. 
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD automation, and cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP). 
• Background in data platforms and real-time analytics.
