We are seeking an exceptional Art Director to spearhead our game art content and ensure visual elements meet the highest standards. This role is ideal for a self-motivated, keen, and versatile individual with expertise in game art, team management, and artistic direction.Key skills include conception, 2D art, technical pipelines, optimization, and implementation of art assets for game engines. Art Vision: Define and own the art vision, style guides, and visual identity for games. Concept Art: Create concept art, mood boards, key frames, style frames, and reference guides to communicate direction. Art Direction: Contribute to 2D art through hands-on tasks while providing art direction. Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of artists (2D, VFX, UI/UX) – hiring, performance reviews, training. Pipeline Oversight: Oversee all art production pipelines, scheduling, and task distribution for timely delivery. Collaboration: Work with game designers, engineers, and product managers to align art with mechanics, UX, monetization, and performance budgets. Quality Control: Review and approve art assets (character models, environments, props, animations, UI, effects) to maintain quality, consistency & technical feasibility. Optimization: Optimize art assets for mobile performance (poly count, draw calls, texture resolution, LODs). Innovation: Push visual innovation: explore new techniques, shaders, workflows, effects, rendering styles. Platform Adherence: Ensure assets adhere to platform constraints (iOS / Android / different hardware tiers). Presentation: Drive creation of presentation and marketing materials to communicate artistic vision to stakeholders and external partners. Feedback Loop: Conduct regular art reviews and feedback loops, maintain version control and art documentation. Industry Trends: Keep an eye on industry trends, competitor visuals, and R&D to bring fresh ideas. Representation: Occasionally represent the art team in cross-functional leadership meetings and external presentations. We require: Diploma/Degree in 2D, video game development or equivalent training/experience. 10+ years experience creating game art with minimum 5 years at senior level or above. Strong portfolio showing various game art styles, polished final assets, and concept-to-delivery work. Experience working on a published game from conception to release. Experience designing and developing game UX and UI. Expert knowledge of Photoshop. Understanding of fundamental art theory including principles of color, light, composition and anatomy.
