Automation Test Lead

This Automation Test Lead role demands hands-on expertise in Selenium with Java for automating microservices and front-end web applications. The successful candidate will also possess significant experience in performance testing using tools like JMeter and LoadRunner, alongside custom solutions. They will be crucial in driving shift-left testing initiatives and championing robust QA processes across development cycles.Responsibilities:Test Strategy & Planning:Define and implement comprehensive automation test strategies for microservices and front-end web applications.Develop test plans, including scope, objectives, resources, and timelines for automation projects.Collaborate with development teams to integrate testing into the CI/CD pipeline (shift-left testing).Automation Framework Development & Maintenance:Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable automation frameworks using Selenium with Java.Ensure the framework supports API automation for microservices and UI automation for web applications.Implement best practices for test automation, including modularity, reusability, and maintainability.Test Execution & Analysis:Oversee the execution of automated test suites and analyze test results to identify defects and areas for improvement.Troubleshoot and debug automation scripts to ensure reliability and accuracy.Generate comprehensive test reports and metrics to track progress and quality.Performance Testing:Lead and execute performance testing initiatives using tools like JMeter and custom-built solutions.Analyze performance test results to identify bottlenecks and provide recommendations for optimization.Demonstrate knowledge and potentially utilize LoadRunner for advanced load testing scenarios.Collaboration & Mentorship:Work closely with development, product management, and other QA teams to ensure alignment on quality goals.Mentor and guide junior automation engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.Facilitate knowledge sharing and promote automation best practices across the team.QA Process Guardianship:Act as a guardian of the QA process, ensuring adherence to quality standards and methodologies.Drive continuous improvement in testing processes, tools, and techniques.Participate in requirement reviews, design discussions, and code reviews to provide early feedback on testability.Tool & Technology Evangelism:Evaluate and recommend new testing tools and technologies to enhance automation capabilities.Stay updated with industry trends and emerging best practices in test automation and quality assurance.Qualifications:7+ years of relevant experienceExperience in test automation and programming of software applicationsExperience in managing and implementing successful test automation projectsAbility to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirementsEducation:Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experienceThis job description provides a high-level review of the types of work performed.
