Job Title: Retail Planner


Summary: A retail planner's job typically involves analyzing sales data, forecasting demand, and determining inventory levels to optimize product availability and profitability. They may also collaborate with merchandising and buying teams, set pricing strategies, and monitor market trends to make informed decisions for a retail business. Additionally, they often work to minimize excess inventory and markdowns while maximizing sales and margins.


Location: Bangalore (in-office)

 

Key Leadership Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee base stock management at the category level.
  • Conduct quarterly range grading across stores.
  • Direct allocation and replenishment according to store range plans.
  • Maintain minimum MOS (Months of Stock) at the store level.
  • Monitor ROS (Rate of Sale) performance at stores.
  • Lead assortment planning and performance reviews through business analytics.
  • Identify, quantify, and assess market opportunities through surveys.
  • Strategize and finalize sales, margin, and inventory plans for the concept.
  • Guide Buying teams on category, price, size, and option mix.
  • Review sales performance and base stock to determine necessary actions.
  • Develop in-season promotional and EOSS markdown plans.
  • Analyze sell-through and productivity to suggest mid-season adjustments.
  • Evaluate brand performance, review trade terms, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with retail, warehouse, and buying teams for performance reviews.
  • Establish and manage Open-to-Buy (OTB) budgets.
  • Ensure timely stock delivery and adherence to inventory norms at store and warehouse levels.
  • Forecast and manage inventory levels for core lines to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Perform post-launch gap analysis and propose corrective actions.
  • Initiate end-of-season returns where required.
  • Conduct competitor analysis focusing on product width, pricing, and best sellers.
