We are currently looking for an experienced Chief Data Engineer to join our team with one of our clients. I would like to tell you a bit more about this position and learn a few things about you, as well.

Title: Chief Data Engineer

Location: Mumbai India (Hybrid Role)

Full-time position


Responsibilities:

Lead efforts to improve the Infrastructure Data Engineering team and its work processes.

Set up processes to ensure high-quality data, protect data privacy, and maintain reliable systems, while allowing for quick experimentation and informed decision-making.

Oversee the creation and launch of new data models and pipelines that will be used in production.

Define and manage the expectations (SLAs) for all data sets and processes in operation.

Ensure high data quality across product areas and related business functions.

Have a strong understanding of cloud services like AWS and be familiar with Databricks.

Attract, coach, and help develop a talented data engineering team.


Experience Needed

Have over 12 years of experience in Analytics, Business Intelligence (BI), and Data Management.

Hold a degree (BS/MS) in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or a similar technical field.

Have experience in growing and managing a team, including leading other managers.

Be skilled at working with various teams, including Engineering, Product Management, and Data Science.

Show strong communication and leadership skills, able to lead company-wide projects.

Have hands-on experience in designing data systems.

Know how to use SQL and Python.

Understand how to conduct experiments like A/B testing.

Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) processes is a plus.

Be passionate about keeping up with the latest trends in data, AI, and ML, and striving to innovate and provide quality solutions.


Ideal Candidates Will Have:

A high level of self-motivation and great organizational skills.

Experience managing a team and using tools like JIRA.

A hands-on approach with a focus on quality.

The ability to improve processes and technologies continuously.

The willingness to take calculated risks and support new ideas.

Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
