About the RoleThis position is a key part of our team, providing critical programming support to enhance statistical analysis capabilities across various projects and clients.We are seeking an experienced programmer who can manipulate large databases and generate reports to empower analysts to explore real-world healthcare data assets. The ideal candidate will have excellent SAS and SQL programming skills and be able to implement complex logic. Experience with creating complex analysis datasets derived from various data sources is essential, as well as attention to detail for outliers and errors.SAS proficiency is a must, while R programming experience is preferred.While we welcome candidates with therapeutic area experience, particularly in rare diseases, it is not a requirement.The ability to work with real-world healthcare claims databases, such as MarketScan or Optum, is essential, with EU database experience being equivalent.OMOP Common Data Model experience is highly valued, even if it's just one year of familiarity.SQL querying and extraction skills are crucial, especially when working with databases.Technical RequirementsThe successful candidate will have expertise in R and SQL programming, as well as good understanding of Oncology databases like Flatiron and COTA. Knowledge of Oncology-specific analyses, such as Line of Therapy algorithms and Survival analysis, is also important. Familiarity with R Shiny or Instant Health Data (IHD) is preferable. Analytic Datasets and patient cohorts are also valuable assets.Leadership and CollaborationWe are looking for a leader who can effectively manage internal and client study team meetings. Strong communication, time management, enthusiasm, and documentation skills are essential for this role. Additionally, the candidate should be able to share scientific, technical, and practical knowledge within the team and with colleagues. Performing work in full compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, company policies, procedures, and training is also mandatory. Building effective collaborative working relationships with internal and client team members is crucial.Education and QualificationsThe minimum qualification requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other subject with high statistical content. A minimum of 4+ years of statistical programming experience is necessary, with at least 7-8 years of experience required for the Principal Programmer position. Database programming using SQL is essential, along with experience with advanced statistical methods like survival and regression. Real-world healthcare claims and EHR data experience, such as MarketScan or Optum, is also required.Additional RequirementsA Master's degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or other subject with high statistical content is desirable. Training or experience using the OMOP Common Data Model is highly valued. Familiarity with Python, R, Databricks, or other cloud-based software is also beneficial. Pharmaceutical industry experience is a plus, as is training or experience in epidemiological methods.
