Job Title: API Gateway Developer & Platform Specialist

Job Mode: 12 months Renewable contract

Work arrangement: Remote- Hybrid

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Senior API Gateway Developer to join the IT Platform team, responsible for the end-to-end API lifecycle – from design and security governance to onboarding automation, developer portal customisation, and performance monitoring. The role focuses on enabling enterprise and partner integrations, supporting digital transformation towards an API-driven architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

• API Gateway Development: Design, configure, and manage Layer7 (or equivalent) API Gateways, ensuring scalability, security (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, IP whitelisting), and compliance with governance standards.
• Integration & Standards: Work with REST, GraphQL, SOAP, JSON, XML, and CSV; implement transformations and schema validation.
• Performance & Monitoring: Optimize API performance (caching, payloads, pooling); monitor via Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Splunk; set up automated alerts and health checks.
• Platform Engineering & DevOps: Automate CI/CD deployments (Jenkins, GitLab, AWS DevOps); integrate with JIRA; implement versioning and rollback strategies.
• Onboarding & Lifecycle: Streamline onboarding for internal/external teams; manage provisioning, sandbox access, keys, and SLAs; customize developer portals; maintain documentation (Swagger, Postman, Confluence).

Requirements:

• Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• 5+ years API development/integration; 3+ years API Gateway engineering.
• Hands-on with Layer7 ; exposure to Apigee, MuleSoft, Kong, AWS API Gateway, or Azure API Management.
• Strong knowledge of API security protocols (OAuth2, mTLS, JWT, OIDC).
• Experience with CI/CD, scripting (Python, Shell, Groovy) , and monitoring tools.
• Good understanding of databases, server-side technologies, and cloud (AWS preferred).
• Familiarity with hybrid deployments, Kubernetes, and containerized gateways (advantage).

• Strong collaboration across engineering, security, and partner teams.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving under pressure.
