Job Title: Housekeeping Trainer
Location: Nalanda Vidyanikethan School Campus
Reports To: Facilities Manager / School Operations Head
Job Summary:
The Housekeeping Trainer will be responsible for training housekeeping staff to ensure that the school's cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards are upheld. The role involves developing and conducting training programs to equip staff with knowledge on cleaning techniques, hygiene protocols, equipment usage, waste disposal, and other housekeeping procedures. The trainer should foster a professional, organized, and efficient housekeeping team to maintain a clean and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Training and Development:
Design and implement structured training programs to educate housekeeping staff on cleaning techniques, safety standards, hygiene practices, and equipment handling.
Conduct hands-on training sessions to teach best practices in floor care, restroom sanitation, furniture maintenance, waste disposal, and other cleaning duties.
Ensure staff understands and adheres to school policies related to cleanliness, hygiene, and facility maintenance.
Update training materials regularly to comply with the latest health and safety regulations.
Onboarding New Staff:
Oversee the onboarding of new housekeeping staff, providing them with an orientation on school facilities, protocols, and job expectations.
Ensure new hires are trained in using all necessary cleaning tools, equipment, and chemical products, prioritizing safety and efficiency.
Quality Control and Performance Assessment:
Perform regular inspections of school facilities to assess the cleanliness, maintenance, and overall appearance.
Provide feedback and retraining as necessary to ensure consistent high standards.
Evaluate staff performance and maintain records of training activities, competencies, and improvement areas.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
Educate staff on hygiene, sanitation, and safe handling of chemicals and equipment, promoting health and safety protocols.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health regulations regarding sanitation and safety.
Develop safety drills and protocols to prevent accidents, spills, and other hazards.
Inventory and Equipment Management:
Assist in managing inventory levels of cleaning supplies, materials, and equipment, ensuring availability and proper storage.
Train staff in routine maintenance of housekeeping equipment to ensure longevity and efficiency.
Collaborate with the facilities team to report, manage, and resolve any repair or maintenance needs.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain records of training sessions, attendance, and staff progress.
Generate reports on staff performance, training effectiveness, and areas for improvement.
Assist in policy development to improve housekeeping procedures and protocols.
Key Skills and Competencies:
Training and Mentorship: Ability to teach and mentor staff of diverse backgrounds, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of Cleaning Techniques and Chemicals: Deep understanding of cleaning methodologies, tools, and cleaning agents suitable for a school environment.
Attention to Detail: Ability to recognize areas that need improvement and provide actionable feedback.
Health and Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety standards, hygiene protocols, and regulatory compliance.
Organizational Skills: Ability to plan, schedule, and document training programs and staff progress.
Problem Solving: Capacity to handle any operational issues, find effective solutions, and train staff accordingly.
Educational Requirements and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; a certificate in housekeeping or hospitality management is a plus.
Experience: 4-6 years in housekeeping, with at least 1-2 years in a training role.
Familiarity with school or institutional housekeeping standards is highly desirable.
Work Environment:
This role is based in a school environment, which may require interacting with students, staff, and parents. Regular rounds across different sections of the campus and frequent physical activity, including walking, lifting, and moving equipment, are expected.
