DevOps Lead

About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced, hands-on DevOps Lead/Engineering Manager (12-18 years experience) to immediately bring critical leadership, process, and technical discipline to our high-performing but unstructured DevOps team. You will be responsible for defining and enforcing predictable engineering processes, establishing strong communication frameworks, and eliminating recurring operational mistakes. This role requires deep technical competency across our stack (AWS, Terraform, Argo CD, Jenkins), combined with a proven ability to mentor engineers, drive GitOps and CI/CD maturity, and institutionalize the operational excellence needed to scale our delivery and dramatically increase environment stability.Required Skills & QualificationsEducation:Bachelor's degree (B.Tech) or Master's degree (M.Tech) in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent fieldExperience: • 12–18 years of overall experience, with at least 4–6 years in a DevOps leadership or managerial capacity.Technical Skills: • 12–18 years of overall experience, with at least 4–6 years in a DevOps leadership or managerial capacity. • Proven experience managing or leading high-performing DevOps/SRE/Platform teams. • Strong hands-on competency with: • AWS (EKS, VPC, IAM, EC2, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, ALB/NLB, etc.) • Terraform (modularization, state management, pipelines) • Argo CD or similar GitOps tools • Jenkins, GitHub, and modern CI/CD workflows • Strong automation mindset with experience in Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages. • Solid understanding of microservices, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern deployment strategies (blue/green, canary, progressive delivery). • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, etc.). • Demonstrated ability to implement processes that minimize mistakes and improve team output. • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence, coordinate, and lead across multiple teams.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Management • Provide day-to-day leadership, mentorship, and direction to a team of DevOps engineers. • Establish strong communication frameworks and enforce high-quality engineering processes. • Identify skill gaps, coach engineers, and foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement. • Create predictable processes to avoid recurring mistakes and enhance overall team reliability. • Partner closely with Engineering, QA, Security, and Product teams to drive alignment and smooth delivery.Technical Leadership (Hands-On) • Lead the design, automation, and optimization of our infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines. • Own and improve cloud infrastructure leveraging AWS best practices. • Oversee IaC development using Terraform and ensure consistent, secure, and scalable deployments. • Drive GitOps practices using Argo CD (or equivalent technologies). • Architect and maintain scalable CI/CD workflows using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and similar tools. • Implement monitoring, observability, and incident response frameworks. • Ensure compliance, security, cost optimization, and operational best practices across environments.Process & Operational Excellence • Build and enforce DevOps standards, documentation, and governance. • Introduce change management, release management, and incident management best practices. • Reduce operational risk by improving automation, testing strategies, and auditability. • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) reviews and ensure implementation of corrective/preventive actions. • Improve deployment predictability, environment stability, and overall engineering velocity.What Success Looks Like • The DevOps team operates with clarity, efficiency, and ownership. • Deployment failures and repeated mistakes significantly decrease. • Infrastructure and processes become more automated, reliable, and scalable. • Engineers feel supported and guided through best practices. • Cross-team communication improves, reducing friction and improving delivery speed.About UsWe are MeghGen Technologies (https://www.meghgen.ai/) and at the forefront of cloud-native data solutions, specializing in delivering innovative services across GCP, AWS and Azure platforms.Forward-thinking: We embrace change and constantly seek new ways to push the boundaries of what's possible.Collaborative: We believe in open communication and teamwork, ensuring everyone has a chance to contribute and learn.Flat hierarchy: No stuffy titles here.
