Job Title:Senior SolarWinds Automation Engineer Job Description:We are seeking a highly skilled SolarWinds engineer to manage, optimize and automate various functions of our platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the SolarWinds Orion suite.The role plays a critical part in ensuring observability, performance monitoring, and automation across our global infrastructure.This includes administering and maintaining the SolarWinds Orion platform, including NPM, NCM, SAM, VNQM, and other modules.Developing and maintaining PowerShell scripts for automating SolarWinds tasks such as node onboarding/offboarding, alert suppression or muting during maintenance windows, custom alert/report generation and distribution, and SolarWinds–ServiceNow integration enhancements.Implementing custom monitoring logic, automated diagnostics, and integrations via Orion API, SWIS, and REST endpoints.Collaborating with stakeholders to understand automation needs and deliver solutions that support observability workflows.Building tools and utilities to support monitoring self-service, reporting automation, and configuration validation.Managing custom Pollers, SNMP configurations, and agentless/agent-based monitoring across multi-vendor environments.Designing and optimizing SWQL and SQL queries to support reports and custom dashboards for tailored views.Configuring and maintaining alert logic, escalation policies, and notification integrations (e.g., with ServiceNow, email, Teams).Participating in incident triage and root cause analysis, leveraging SolarWinds logs and metrics.Maintaining security posture of the application, including RBAC, SNMPv3, and audit logging.Contributing to and maintaining Kanban board tasks and documentation related to SolarWinds projects and issues. Required Skills & Experience:5+ years of hands-on experience managing SolarWinds environments (Orion Platform 2020.2.6 or newer).3+ years of PowerShell development experience focused on infrastructure and monitoring automation.Strong experience with Orion SDK, SWQL Studio, and SolarWinds API integrations.Strong understanding of PowerShell classes, modules, error handling, and parallelization techniques.SQL Server knowledge, including query optimization, performance tuning, and CTEs.Familiarity with network topology mapping, NetPath, and NetFlow analysis.Experience in large-scale monitoring environments (>1000 nodes).Solid understanding of Windows Server, IIS, and system-level diagnostics.Comfortable working in Kanban/Agile environments with tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.Strong communication skills to collaborate with multiple teams and technical stakeholders.
